Went to the ER with what turned out to be kidney stones. They put me in a room with no call button or any means of communication. Went hours without checking on me. I told them I was dehydrated and had a headache, but it took them 5 hours to give me a little cup of water and some Tylenol. They put in an IV port and I asked for fluids 5 times, but they never gave me any. Anyone who knows anything about kidney stones knows that 8 hours without water (except the 1/4 cup I had with the Tylenol) is a bad thing. I asked for the urologist on call and they gave me a post it note with a name and phone number and told me to call his office to make an appointment. Then after 8 hours of pretty much being ignored, except 2 blood draws and a CT scan, a very rude nurse came in I had never seen before and said, "your doctor left and the doctor on now says you can pass a 6.5mm stone. We are checking you out now." The first doctor said the stone wasn't passable. I told her my mother-in-law would be there in 15 to 20 minutes and she snapped, you can wait out in the ER waiting room. They wanted me there long enough to bill my insurance company thousands of dollars and nothing more. The person who took my blood was nice and did a good job, but unfortunately that's about the only good thing I can say about the experience. I will not go back. Time to find another hospital!
ER failed to do a basic x-ray after my fall to see that I had a fracture in my spine. Hospitalized for the wrong condition until back pain grew so great they did an xray and discovered their error. Nurses regularly failed to give prescribed medications. On on occasion, relative saw nurses gathered around doing selfies of themselves at a time when my medication was due. Other times nurses said they didn't forget, "we are just too short-staffed to give everyone their meds." Three days before scheduled surgery duty nurse bagan surgery prep for me because she was reading the wrong date on my chart. Left hospital with injected sores on legs because of wrappings kept too tight, even though staff was asked to adjust. This last is too graphic and disgusting to describe but was released on day after surgery without hospital making sure all bodily functions were properly working again. The resulting mess was painful and horrible and had to have medical intervention.
Sister went to hospital taking, died there a month later, Ran all kinds of test couldn't figure out what it was. Kept saying it wasn't cancer. I pull something off the internet about her liver going bad. Doctor look at it and said no, it's not her liver. she went on life support system while they still ran test. Did a Liver biospy (dud) came back ok. Hm, While we waiting on Doctor to come and take her off life support the person came and exray her stomach to why she hadn't a bowel movement. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Doctor came in and said she thought it was a blood desease. We had a austopy done. It was her Liver stage 3 and 4 from a fungus. Hospital just wanted to run of bill, they ran same test over and over. And they said they had the best doctors in Fort Worth, Scary. I have given instuction for my family not to take me to Harris Hospitals.
