Dr. Akagami and Dr. Westerberg used their magic wands on me to remove a petroclival tumour November 2019. As scary as the experience was he is truly amazing and none of the many possible negative side effects have happened. If he is your surgeon give thanks, you couldn’t be in better hands and his fabulous assistant Marina is wonderful. The nurses at Vancouver General were kind, helpful and efficient and did their best to make me comfortable. If you have to go through this I couldn’t think of a better way to do it. He is a Grand Master. Forever grateful!

From my first contact every interaction was professional helpful and caring. Marina went out of her way to ensure I was informed and not anxious. The Doctor was amazing — told me all I needed to know and the surgery was successful and I’m on my way to a complete recovery. I don’t know how there could be anything other than perfect reviews. I would recommend Dr Akagami and his team to everyone. I would trust them with my life —- and I DID and I am so thankful to the Doctor and Marina for their great care.

I was diagnosed with a 3cm Menigioma Dec 2018. I was referred to Dr Akagami and had my first appointment with him March, 2019. He was very calming and patient with my husband and I. He explained every detail about my diagnosis and recommended surgery. He did not pressure me at all. I had my surgery in May,2019, I’m not going to lie about it, it was rough. The surgery was close to 10 hours long, in recovery, I felt like I had been hit by a Mac truck! I was in the hospital for a total of 4 days before I was sent home to Prince George. The staff at VGH were totally amazing. It has been a slow recovery process but I am so thankful I did it. I did lose my hearing in my left ear but I was prepared for that. Shout out to Dr Akagami’s office assistant Marina for her kindness and understanding. She has been absolutely amazing throughout this process. If you have been referred to Dr Akagami, thank your lucky stars for he is truly amazing at what he does. We are so blessed to have him here in BC. He saved my life and I am forever grateful.

I consider myself blessed to have been Dr. Akagami's patient. I was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma and had most of a tumour removed from the base of my skull by Dr. Akagami and his amazing team. I am now entering my sixth year since surgery and am able to live life to the fullest and I owe it all to this amazing surgeon and the care given by the BC Cancer Agency. I am truly grateful. If you find yourself in his care rest assured you're receiving hands down the very best.

This wonderful man saved my life in 2007 and am 12 years planted on this earth enjoying the moments in my life he has given me . I sow his picture and burst out in a extremely large grin. I dont know if i truly said thank you from the bottom of my still beating heart. It hasnt been a easy trip but he did tell me its not a walk in the park 😎

I cannot give enough stars for this wonderful Doctor !! I just had an acoustic neuroma removed from my head three days ago and I feel good and going home today. His care and talent along with his team and Dr Westerberg have made me feel whole again. He is the one ! Thank you Dr Akagami there are no words !

I had an 32mm+ AN which Dr Akagami removed with Dr Westerberg performing the bone work. The OP was more difficult than anticipated and took 9 hrs. Without the OP I would not be here today.

Dr. Akagami is my Superman. He has saved my life. It's over five years since my surgery. He and his team at VGH are simply amazing. I had seen several specialists on complaints of hearing loss, severe head aches, extreme shooting pain for ten years. No one listened, until finally seeing Dr.Lea and Westerberg at St. Paul's, they referred me to Dr. Akagami. Unfortunately he and his team could not remove all my tumor, or tumors, they stopped before I loss the ability to swallow, talk, walk etc etc. I'm not with out on going issues, but he any day above ground is better then below it. Dr. Akagami is wonderful, kind and professional and magnificent at his job. He listened to me, unlike several others before him. I am forever grateful to him and his staff. Dr Akagami is the best. I have never seen such a respectful, kind, knowledgeable and caring doctor in my life. I had a brain tumour he did an excellent job which no one could believe. Even though it was supposed to have lots of symptoms after surgery , thry all gone soon after opperation. I’m just so thankful for such a great job that saved my life .

I was admitted to VGH in 2001 after sustaining a brain injury in a car accident.While in a 10 day coma, Dr Akagami took time to meet my family daily and offer updates and options. He performed a craniotomy on me in those 10 days. While on the regular ward he checked on me often and replaced my removed scal with expertise. I only lost a small patch of hair. Dr. Akagami is a true professional and well respected by other medical specialists. Blessed to have had him by my side
