It's almost as though there are two Russell Hills. One Russell Hill is the doctor that I saw over 15 years ago. He was a gynecological oncologist at the top of his game, rated as a Top Doc and with admitting privileges at Georgetown Hospital and Howard. I learned of him from the recommendation of a lawyer, and I guess because I used her name, he was wonderful to me. He performed a complicated myomectomy with design of keeping me fertile and did a wonderful job.

Fast forward to almost ten years later. I went back to him as a physician candidate for another surgery. It seemed like a different person. He was no longer practicing with a group, flying solo, and his office was inadequately staffed. Instead of just doing gyn oncology, he was attempting to be a full-fledge OB/GYN and clearly lacked the knowledge and temperament for it. Bedside manner was awful; could not perform a basic Pap smear without hurting me and causing unnecessary bleeding. No conversation or ability to talk about basic OB/GYN care. His face did not brighten until my husband came in to talk about the potential surgery. He was much nicer and more comfortable in the presence of my husband. But it was too late. I moved on and found another surgeon.

I like Dr. Hill in terms of what he has done in medicine and do believe he is genuinely concerned about giving his cancer patients the best tumor removal. But he is not a great regular OB/GYN. Could not recommend him for routine care.

First let me say that my friends rate me as a supersweet person,who RARELY speaks negatively of others. In this case, I found Russell HiLl to be an extremely rude, arrogant person who punctured my bladder during 2 surgeries some time ago. I still have serious problems to this day (24 hour PAIN, burning urethra, polyps, and fear of urinating). Other doctors are reluctant to help (lawsuits are not thrilling picnics). I am praying over what to do.

He is an excellent doctor. Very knowledgable.
