I thought Dr Road was wonderful. He was so kind and took the time to explain everything to me.

I am extremely frustrated my the follow up at this clinic. He had put in another referral to a different specialist, and I know he did this because he discussed it with me. The staff have not processed the referral almost 6 months later, which was confirmed by the staff at my other specialist. The person who did my sleep study was also terrifying, she was very aggressive and was ripping off the glue on my head as if she was waxing someone’s legs.

First time with Dr. Road- seems very professional and knowledgeable about my condition. Advice and treatment plan appears considered and rationale. Glad I took the time to meet him in person - gave me confidence in the treatment plan

Having read all of the reviews it strikes me that maybe these folks need to do more of their own homework in regards to their illness. Seems they think that seeing a dr cures them. Medicine is a best guess as to how to fix us with lung problems. Do your homework and talk to the Dr. about what might help and ask about a rescue plan for home ( prednisone and antibiotics for flare ups ).
Dr.Road has been supportive and has given me advise on lung transplant ( saving it for someone younger then me ) and does testing when I mention that it has become more difficult to breath.
I highly recommend Dr.Road even though he has not been able to fix me ( no one can ) he has shown compassion and care for my situation and has knowledge for my IPF/COPD along with my Post polio conditions. I consider him a friend and a funny guy who can make me smile and thats important. So please help yourselfs and learn as much as you can so as to help with your needs. oh and his help staff fantastic Jane and all the girls have been great. and if you are not happy find someone else.

Saw this guy October 2019. Made a formal complaint to VGH - who did nothing.
I came into the ED because I could not walk and breathe at the same time. I responded well to the asthma meds and was cleared of underlying issues. My coughing spasms were temporarily relieved with appropriate meds, however I was sent home after these meds had worn off, and without the new prescribed meds on board and actively working in my body. I was sent home alone without support or confidence that the meds would kick in and while I was in active respiratory distress. I was not given clear instructions about which kind of respiratory distress would be appropriate beyond my peak flow scores for a return to the ED. I had an asthma attack in the ambulance bay, from the exertion walking to pick up a taxi to go home and felt that I could not return because it was no different than the dozens of breathing crisis that I was already having on a daily basis for the entire past week, which is what originally brought me to the ED as instructed by my other doctors and asthma safety plan.
I was sent home in the same position which brought me in- unable to breathe and walk at the same time. Being advised not to move for 5-10 days so as not to trigger an asthma attack is not appropriate medical care. He was paternalistic in his tone and refused flat out to examine me or observe me when I’m distress - which would have happened had I been allowed to take 3-5 steps.
Absolutely unprofessional and unhelpful.
I refuse to have him see me in the ER again.
I have a severe form of asthma with VCD and anaphylaxis.

I developed a respiratory condition 10 years ago. After seeing numerous doctors, both western and TCM, nobody was able to improve my conditions until I met Dr. Road. He was the only one who could help me control my symptoms and even gave me advice on how to improve my home set up for the condition. He is compassionate and very caring. He is straightforward when required, but otherwise, he's quite calm.

A wonderful diagnostician and physician. He diagnosed my lung disease and set me on a course of management that has been successful from day one. He is a Professor, Division Head, Chair and Mediclal Director so it should come as no surprise to people that he isn’t immediately available and it can take time to get follow-up appointments. However, he always seems to find a break in his schedule and makes up for any lost time by being completely knowledgeable about your condtion, and ensuring all your questions are answered and you fully understand your condition and the medications, procedures, or treatments that may be needed.

Quite frankly one of the worst drs I have ever seen. Seen him twice about sleep disorder. Neither time did he even ASK me what I've been experiencing. Simply booked me for an overnight study and told me I needed a CPAP machine. No questions about current medical issues, medications. No questions at all.

Having seen Dr Road for a couple of years having done NOTHING more than renewing my prescription, I was highly advised to leave VGH and go to St Paul's for Dr Dorscheid. WHAT A HUGE IMPROVEMENT in attitude, testing and advise!! GET OUT OF VGH!!!
