I cannot believe the reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I usually plan for a 2-3 hour appointment due to wait times, though I am sometimes seen on time. Dr. Shuman explains everything thoroughly no matter how long it takes. This contributes to the long wait time. I feel she is worth the wait. I usually get along fine with the staff. All in all I think she is great. Very intelligent and assertive.

Dr. Marla Shuman's office phones are through Voice over IP and and when you call the office it is often busy and you get "The office is now close " message. I mentioned this to Dr Marla Shuman and she told me " Just keep trying" !!! Also this doctor makes you wait for a long time. The last time I visited her office I had to sit inside the locked examination room for one hour ! She never even said sorry for her late arrival.

This was probably the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I am certain she is well educated however, Dr. Shuman is very focused on herself. She talks about her own personal issues which I am not interested in. Her interaction with me regarding to my medical issue was very confusing and I found her logic extremely difficult to follow. I almost felt that she was dismissing my concerns and the reason I was referred to the practice initially by my physician. I can honestly say that I would not go back to her nor could I recommend her to a friend, family member or co-worker. I did not have any problems with the staff. I found them to be polite and professional during my first interaction with them at the office.

Horrible woman. Doctor form of the devil. Aggressive body language. No understanding. Full of herself. Only cares about money. Treats everyone else like brainless idiots. Doesnt know her OWN field. Calls everything asthma and pressures you. Says other people are more important and implies you are taking up space for no reason. . Rather die. Save yourself from this doctor/discoverer of asthma (note HEAVY sarcasm on "doctor and discoverer")

I appreciate Dr. Shuman's diagnostic ability and straight forward manner. My first appointment, many years ago, was informative and detailed. I will continue to suggest Dr. Shuman is an invaluable member of the medical society and refer friends and relatives to her practice.

This doctor care about only one thing -- her opinion, herself. It does not matter how long you wait in her office, it doesn't matter how you feel and what course of action you choose for your own body. It matters only that you numb you mind to any self-determination and let her pretend that she is "God." Save yourself and see someone else.

I look forward to seeing Dr. Shuman as I know I will walk away with attention paid to my asthma and detail to my asked questions. Dr. Shuman also goes beyond treating the patient for pulmonary care as well. She has addressed other medical concerns I have had and treated them when other Dr's could not. I dread, however, the wait to see her. She chronically runs very late and I have to plan a minimum 2-3 hr. visit because of wait time to see her. The attention to detail applies to all patients and so the down side to that is waiting for your turn to be seen.

Dr. Shuman is a great doctor, she was very thorough with her examination, and I appreciate that. Her staff on the other hand, I would rather not interact with. Most recently after an interaction with Cathy (staff), I walked away feeling awkward, it was an earful of passive aggressive tones that ultimately made me feel like the size of an ant. On appointment day, bubbles of anxiety percolate as I approach the door of the office. If I could recommend that Dr. Shuman HUG her staff once a day, I think that would be helpful. They seem irritated and overwhelmed and use sarcastic rhetoric to get through the day. If I had to grade her staff I would give them a D+. I know they can do better than that.

The doctor has you waiting excessive periods of time and seems to lack respect for your schedule. Though she does address problems, she seems a bit in need of a bedside manner. Her office staff is inefficient and doesn't seem to care as much as she does. I was not overall impressed with the care and wondered what you'd do if you were a truly ill patient of hers.
