The wait time is unacceptable. She is a good doctor & I like her but her office staff is terrible & very rude. The office staff is the largest problem & that coupled w/ extreme wait times & very poor response to patients needs means the care is impacted.

In terms of punctuality and time to diagnosis, I think I was in Dr. Shuman's office for four hours. Appointment was 2 hours late, but BUT, she and staff explained and apologized that it was due to scheduling error. Also, Dr. Shuman was VERY thorough in listening to entire medical history, which took a lot of time, but I think contributed to a helpful diagnosis. I really didn't care about the amount of time so much as a diagnosis that would accurately treat me (as I had been previously misdiagnosed). I particularly liked her straightforward manner and the fact that she answered all of my questions, and I usually have a lot for doctors! I will absolutely go back to her for ongoing care.

Dr. maybe very knowledgeable, but does not impart positive emotions toward patients. Does not explain without being specifically asked. Cool, clinical, precise, and professional; however, "bed side" manner lacking in empathy and warmth. I was diagnosed with COPD, a cronic disease that worsens with time. I received an explanation, clear responses to my questions, but absolutely no emotional support, though it is well known that COPD sufferers are prone to clinical depression. I wasn't even asked about my emotional health or about how I was coping with the diagnosis. Also, Dr. Shuman refused to write a statement of medical necessity to my insurance company in support of my request for a pulmonary rehabilitation program, though she herself suggested I participate in one.
