If you want to be slot into a box with the lid slammed shut, Dr. Grant is the physician to see! Actually, the whole Adolescent Medicine unit is a joke; it infringes on human rights and lacks basic integrity. I brought my 11-year old daughter in for a consult on referral from my child's pediatrician, because she has not reached her growth potential and has been complaining of severe stomach pain for the past year. Grant decided that because my daughter is in gymnastics and I had recently lost weight due to a chronic illness, my daughter had developed an eating disorder. My kids are not picky eaters, nor do we have any concerns over her health outside of her pain and the fact that she is below average for her height and weight (which are proportionate, I may add). My entire experience with this woman was horrifying, traumatizing and undermines both my daughter's autonomy and me as a parent, I wish I could disband the program and revoke her position in this hospital.

My daughter was admitted for Abdominal pain and vomiting. Somehow Dr Grant was consulted and immediately labeled my daughter with an eating disorder. She wouldn't listen to me or my daughter and suggested a military-like diet. Luckily I left with my daughter against advice and eventually, she was diagnosed with gall stones had surgery and did great at another hospital.
She got her mind set on waiting disorder and wouldn't look for other causes. Not all adolescents have mental health disorder or eating disorder, seems to be the trend at the adolescent unit at McMaster.

Dr. Grant was very nice and kind. She was my doctor as a teenager when I had anorexia. She was very on top of things and listened well. She allowed me to make some independent decisions with my health which was super important. She honestly saved my life. She was a perfect doctor.

Very bad experience with (dr.) Bader Nasser Alamri, this person should not be allowed to work in Canada for the inappropriate comments he made and for his entitled and arrogant attitude. Hamiltonians deserve respect regardless who they are, where are they from and what are their believes and orientations.

I have been an in person patient with McMaster for almost 2 years and dealing with Dr. Grant for only 1 year. How she got the position dealing with adolescents confused me. Sad way to say that she was terrible. From my personal experience, she was verbally abusive when it came to helping me, stated biased opinions, forced medications, and treated her coworkers terribly. My condolences to those who work with her. After my experience with Dr. Grant, I no longer wonder why I can’t sleep at night.

Wow, I wish I had read some of this stuff before she got her hands on my child, how did she ever become an adolescent doctor, she has no compassion for them, she treats her students poorly, and she orders her staff around, some sort of Queen complex.

Absolutely horrible experience with Dr Grant. This woman was so invalidating to my child I can’t believe it. My child literally came to me in tears because of how Dr Grant spoke to her. Not to mention how she treats her staff and residents is completely disrespectful. I don’t know who let her into medical school because there is not a trace of empathy in her soul.

I was a patient with Dr grant for many years after my inpatient stay due to anorexia as a teen. She was never open to any of my own input and always insisted that she was correct. At one point she tried to put me on zyprexa, which I assume was to force me to gain more weight (was already at a healthy weight and had gotten my period back). I was also treating OCD, but zyprexa is never a first line treatment for that. It is known for causing large amounts of weight gain due to metabolic changes. I felt this was rather sneaky and terrible practice just because I wouldn't (and really physically couldn't) gain the last 5 pounds she wanted me to. I was rather harsh with her in my teens, as I imagine most teen anorexics are in treatment as the illness can cause delusions, but many years later I still feel the same way. I feel that she just wanted me to be a positive statistic for her research. As someone aspiring to get into the medical field myself, I really look down on this doctor and her method of practice, and will use her to serve as an example of what NOT to do.

I was a patient of Dr. Grant's for many years at the McMaster Adolescent Medicine Clinic (against my will as a child). I could go on and about the way my family and I were treated by this woman and her team. She does not think outside of the box or pause to reevaluate the patient's situation. She doesn't treat you like an individual but as a statistic to push through the program. She is disrespectful to patients and parents who have any inquiries about the decisions she makes regarding treatment. Definitely lets her ego get in the way of her ability to treat children. Her efforts at conveying genuineness and compassion are mediocre at best. I could go on about the way that this woman has ruined my life, even years after I last saw her in clinic. My advice for current patients: advocate for yourself (or your kids) and don't let Dr. Grant slot you in a box that doesn't seem to fit.

It is so so encouraging and validating to hear so many of my own sentiments voiced countless times by other patients and parents. I have been living in shame and guilt brought on by Dr. Grant's treatment of my family and myself. Unimaginative, rude, opinionated and egotistical hardly do justice to this woman. She regularly makes appearances in my nightmares even a few years after being out of her 'care' as a doctor. Tried to slot me into a box that she developed with the 'team' for more than six years and this experience has proven to be nothing less than traumatizing and has haunted me for years. There is something wrong with the type of treatment one is receiving (and needless to say the person providing said care) when I desperately dreaded visiting this lady and the mere thought of her sets me over the edge and makes my heart race with dread and anxiety. Words cannot even begin to explain the unprofessional things Dr. Grant had done in my years of treatment, none of which actually benefitted my mental health. The only thing she does consistently well is put her ego ahead of a patient's care and force biased and ongoing 'statistical data' down our throats. I am a person, your patients are all individual people. Learn to treat them accordingly, if that's possible at this point in your career. Being a doctor is a career to you but everything you do affects each individual's life. It would be prudent to remember that.
