Wow - I have seen this doctor twice and both times were not pleasant experiences! The first I brought my 3 month old baby for a well-baby visit and his first set of immunizations. The first thing he said when I walked in was, "Well? What's wrong with him?" When I explained that it is recommended to have a well-baby check-up at 2 months to check weight gain, etc, he said, "Why? Is he sick or something? If he isn't sick I don't see what the point of weighing him is." He did finally bring out the scale and weighed him, after commenting that "all you moms are paranoid about weight gain." He then gave my baby his three shots (which resulted in much screaming) and tossed me some band-aids on his way out the door, saying, "he's getting blood on you." I could not believe how little compassion he showed! The second visit wasn't much better. Overall it seems like he doesn't have time for his patients and is just trying to get the appointment over with as fast as he can.

My husband and I have both seen Dr. Jacobsen and were extremely disappointed both times. I was disappointed b/c he was rushed to go home at the end of the day. In effect, b/c he didn't diagnose what ended up being an easy diagnosis (acid reflux), he wasted both of our times. When my husband saw him, he was diagnosed with a canker sore on his uvula (it's excruciatingly painful). Dr. Jacobsen asked if my husband smoked pot - he doesn't (maybe once when he was a teenager over 10 years ago and doesn't smoke either). But since that is the most common reason for people to get a canker there, he then treated my husband like a liar. Not a very effective treatment when someone's in severe pain. Part of being a good doctor is being compassionate to your patients. Something that Dr. Jacobsen could never have enough schooling to learn.

Saw him at the walk-in clinic for pain in my leg(a fact which I repeated numerous times). Despite my symptoms, he prescribed me antibiotics for a UTI. Dismissive, rude, and unhelpful.

This was the rudest doctor I have ever encountered. He was not knowledgeable whatsoever and instead of working with me to fix my problem, he insisted on writing a prescription for a drug I have already tried unsuccessfully. He had no compassion at all. If he was the last doctor on earth, I would not go back.

Dr. Jacobson works out of QE Medical Clinic in Vancouver. This is a walk in clinic that also offers cosmetic procedures. The good thing is that you will almost always be able to call the same day and get an appointment. I would caution going to see Dr. Jacobson if you are truly ill, however. If you want a cosmetic procedure such as botox (which is financially rewarding) you will get in right away. But if you are really sick, you will sit in the waiting room until the more lucrative patients have been seen. To be candid, this man seems to be immature. He lacks empathy and insight into the human condition. I had been a patient of Dr. Jacobson's for a few minor things when I couldn't get into my family doctor but when I fell really ill he regarded me with suspicion. I was in severe pain with a condition (slipped disk) compounded with a virus that had yet to be diagnosed and was treated like an addict looking for illegal street drugs! A difficult time made worse.
