I saw Dr. Stu for 5 years on a regular basis and then on and off for 15 years until I moved to Sidney BC. He helped with my complex PTSD. He is kind, genuinely empathic and knows his stuff, so to speak. Sometimes, I would cry during the entire session and he would attentively listen. Although I love where I live, I miss Dr. Stu. Thank you Dr. Stu for helping me be one the person I am today.

I have known Dr. Stu for 28 years and worked with him for about 5, along with my other Dr. of 28 years who seemed of no help. Everything said here about him is bang on a real person with one exception. He did give up on me knowing I was severely depressed since childhood trauma, dealing with long-term chronic pain building up to suicidal thoughts for over 20 years which became very serious 3 times until I finally did it feeling hopeless not wanting to live that way anymore with no help. I had thought Dr. Stu was my best hope as I already knew him and he was so good with me. After I survived a very serious suicide attempt feeling hopeless living that way, just getting worse and felt I got no help hope or direction, he dropped me after our next meeting after asking me (a bit soon in my opinion) if I was mad I never died to which I replied yes. With no explanation, that was our last meeting after telling me he had to go out of town again and would call to set up another appointment when he returns. I guess he never returned. I am still here for now, trying to survive ME.

Have been with Dr. Stu for many years and all the reviews I’ve read are exactly how he is. I tell him everything like a diary and he is always without judgement. As someone else stated, he works WITH me and that is so important to me. He has been with me through many tough times and has helped me overcome issues and has never given up on me, even when I wanted to give up on myself. I have never met anyone like him. He is irreplaceable. I am so grateful to have had him in my life and he truly is a gift from God and I hope he realizes how he has helped me.

Dealing with a genuine person here, not just a psychiatrist so he never makes me feel inferior. Refreshing reminder that doctors are people too. He's really listening and has done much for me during a rough time. Will always be grateful for his profession, yet empathetic approach.

Dr.Koensgen has basically been there for me for many years. He is extremely professional and caring. I cannot put into words how this Doctor has helped me and my life. I would recommend him to all if you want a doctor who really sets himself apart.

Dr. Koensgen is the best of the best. He has been my doctor for many years. He has helped me resolve much of my PTD and with my recovery from addiction. His support and caring has brought me to a place where I have learned to care, love and take care of myself. My other psychiatrist, many years ago, made me feel dependent and inadequate. With Dr. Stu's help, I have become empowered. I was able to leave an abusive, lengthy marriage and stay clean for over a decade. He has been one of the biggest gifts in my life. Today I am comfortable living on my own with many good friends and family.

I had been a patient of Dr. Koensgen for many years and my life is on track because of him. He taught me skills about caring for myself while going through a severe depression that I am able to pass along to others. Stu, you are truly a gift from God. While so many doctors prescribe drugs willy nilly, you are thoughtful and consider side effects vs. the overall effectiveness. I will never ever forget you.

I have been seeing this doctor for about 10 months now and I have never felt better. He treats me with respect and values my Christian identity. He puts me in charge of my treatment and is always honest and direct in saying that I know myself best. He works WITH me not FOR me. He lays out options, the pros and cons of those options and is highly supportive of what I choose. He is a great therapist as well as a doctor. In all of my 8 years living with a pyschotic disorder I have never found anyone whom I can trust and confide in and know that I am truly receiving the best treatment there is to offer. He makes himself available for anything and everything he can and never makes me feel guilty about needed forms filled out. He is a gift from God and yet so humble. Simply put amazing!!!
