My granddaughter had emergency brain surgery the day after Thanksgiving in 2016.No words can express how great full we are for the excellent care she received at Children's Hospital. She required a second surgery in May of 2017 and again the care she received from everyone was amazing. Also the care and compassion shown to the entire family is amazing. I am a retired Practical Nurse and worked for 38 years so I know how difficult the work is.
I took my three year old daughter to Children's Hospital emergency yesterday because she was having an asthma attack. The staff were very kind and made her feel comfortable. They took the time to answer all my questions. They turned a very frightening experience into a positive one. Now my daughter wants to go back and see the friendly nurses at the hospital.
My son had a fever of 102° and was throwing up. He couldn't keep anything down, not even water. We took him to the walk in down the street and the doctor said it was just a really bad flu and it will pass but if his fever didn't go down with in an hour that he should go to the emergency room for IV fluids. So that's exactly what we did. We waited an hour and still no change so we took him the the children's emergency. As soon as we got there they took his vitals and temperature and put him in immediately. Hooked him up to an IV, took x-rays and finally a spinal tap where the found out he had meningitis. My 5 year son could have died. But because of the amazing staff at the childrens hospital he's happy and running around. This was just over a week ago. As of today he's still there because he they found the meningitis bacteria in his blood so they want him to stay for a full 2 weeks of antibiotics (he gets discharged on October 19th/16 and before you judge me, YES i did get him vaccinated. Hes always up to date on his vaccines) but he tells me he never wants to leave because the staff are so sweet and patient with him and they have so many great facilities open to him (toys, movies, quality food, libraries, snacks) the Ronald McDonald room even had a thanksgiving dinner that we could invite our family to so that we didn't have to miss out. And his twin brother can even come to visit and play with him. I am so incredibly grateful to all the staff at the children's hospital for what they've done for us.
