I honestly don't know how this guy is in Toronto's top 10 psychiatrists in Ratemd. He is the worst Psychiatrist I have ever seen. If you want your stress and anxiety to get 10 times worse, visit Dr. Koochesfahani. The most inconsiderate and unknowledgeable dr. Not only did my anxiety get worse after seeing this doctor, but he also made fun of me, saying, "I'm complaining a lot about my stress & anxiety"... I feel sorry for anyone who goes to this guy.

Dr. K is a vey knowledgeable and compassionate psychiatrist. I have been seeing this wonderful man for several years and he saved my mental health at a time of crisis. I have worked with many other clinicians in the past. However, I was never happier with any other psychiatrist other than Dr. K. His expertise in prescribing the most suitable medication alongside his words of wisdom have transformed my mental health.
After the very first visit I felt safe due to his calm and professional demeanour. Dr. K uses multimodal patient centred care utilizing variety of treatment interventions such as prescriptions, CBT, psychotherapy, and other means of counselling which helped me tremendously.
I am particularly grateful for the fact that he takes his time during treatments and I never felt rushed. He always spends adequate time addressing my concerns without becoming judgemental. I highly recommend Dr. K. You would be very lucky to have him as your psychiatrist.

I had originally seen this therapist in Toronto, and had gone see a therapist because of deep trauma that was happened to me at home by my parents, including sexual assault.

Through out the multiple sessions that I had with him, he kept on telling me that my parents were just worried, and they actually loved me, making me doubt everything. And even the few times were I stood up for myself told me that Im the aggressor.

These sessions with this doctor were basically rubbing salt on the wound, and caused even more harm. Im still trying to figure out how a therapist would even say such things to their patient.

If you're looking for someone to invalidate your very own lived experiences that have caused you trauma and steer you towards people who've hurt you, this is the therapist for you. Also something I saw from another review that was nearly identical to my experience of him was that he would go into these really questionable freudian tangents, like at one point he was telling me how my eye balls and testicals are psychologically linked.

Dr. K is a fantastic psychiatrist who has had a profoundly positive impact on my mental health.

After negative experiences with 2 different psychiatrist prior to Dr. K, I was relieved to finally have a doctor who is able to understand me and my concerns and provides treatment accordingly.

Dr. K genuinely cares and creates a comfortable therapeutic environment. I appreciate hearing his anecdotes relevant to my own difficulties- it helps me feel like my experiences are not so abnormal.

As a woman I have had no issues talking to Dr. K about even the most sensitive topics such as my sexuality. I have never felt judged by Dr. K, he even helped me reduce my own stigmas regarding female sexuality.

I have been on countless different types of medications in the past 7 years, Dr. K put me on a new medication that has dramatically improved my mental health. Also when Dr. K has suggested medications that I am not interested in trying, I feel entirely comfortable to say no and Dr. K accepts it!

I am so thankful to have Dr. K as my psychiatrist. I recommend him to anyone!

It's been over a year, and Dr. K has remained a constant in my treatment for ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, an eating disorder, Anxiety, and Depression. It's a lot, but I'm lucky that he's patient, and compassionate.

He puts in the effort to understand my background and respectfully asks questions to uncover the root of my concerns. As a female university student, he is empathetic to the concerns that I would be faced with (ie. the importance of grades, balancing expectations of friends/family/myself, etc.). I've been introduced to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), apps that track my moods and emotions, and books and readings that support my interests in personal development.

Through him, I've made strides in my treatment. Things like getting my first A+ in years, or being able to spend a summer with my family without a single explosive fight, these are all milestones that we've successfully achieved.

I've stayed with him this long, and will continue to as I hit more milestones in my treatment.

I have seen Dr. Koochesfahani for over a year and without a doubt, I highly recommend him. When I first sought help, it was right after an incident of sexual assault so I was initially hesitant to see a male psychiatrist. Regardless, Dr. K--as most people (i.e., staff) call him--has made it very easy for me to trust him. He is professional and listens to my concerns in a non-judgmental manner. He also gave helpful recommendations that can help with my depression and anxiety--from meditation to group therapy. The recommendations were well-thought out based on my personal interests as I have shared with him. Both have been immensely helpful and I continue doing them to this day. What I value the most about Dr. K. is that I can sense that he truly cares for me as a patient and as a person, as well as the unconditional acceptance. I always look forward to my sessions with him and I am infinitely grateful for his kindness. He is a very effective psychiatrist and without him I may not be here to write this review today. He has helped me grow so much!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm probably a difficult patient. I've been seeing various doctors and specialists for chronic pain and mental health for over a decade now. (I'm a woman in my mid-20s.)

I demand to have an active role in managing my health, which includes having a say in which medications I take and how often. I appreciate that conversations with Dr. Koochesfahani are an ongoing dialogue where I am allowed to express my concerns. I have found that he listens to me and works with me to figure out the best treatment options.

Though my graduate education is in a different field, I do have the ability to read and understand medical literature to a certain extent and Dr. Koochesfahani seems to take this into account when we discuss my options. We discuss potential interactions, and why these would occur, by comparing how the medications work and what they act upon. I have always felt safe and well-informed about my treatment options. The potential benefits of anything he prescribes always outweigh the potential risks.

Sometimes women feel uncomfortable seeking medical treatment from male doctors, for very good reason. I want to stress that I have always felt safe with Dr. Koochesfahani and have never felt dismissed or mistreated. (And, we have discussed sexual assault and issues related to my menstrual cycle.)

I would definitely recommend Dr. Koochesfahani. He genuinely cares about his patients and really strives to understand them before settling on a diagnosis. (I actually came into his office with a diagnosis from a previous psychiatrist. He took that into account, but wanted to look at the symptoms interfering with my quality of life before putting any labels on it. It actually turns out that the original diagnosis was probably wrong, but it took time to figure that out.)

I've been seeing Dr. K for over a year now and I highly recommend him. Looking through some of the reviews below, it's hard to believe that they are talking about the same person! While I understand that each person is likely to have a different experience, some of the accusations below are, literally, incredible.
In my experience, Dr. K is a non-judgemental and patient listener. It took me some time to be able to express how I was feeling and he gave me the time and space I needed to get my thoughts together. He does talk about himself sometimes and tells stories/anecdotes, but I believe he does this to probe into some areas for exploration without asking direct questions. Sometimes there is nothing there that I pick up on but other times something strikes me as important and we try to unpack it together.
Ultimately, I trust Dr. K and I am very grateful for the opportunity I have had to work on my issues in his practice. Also, he didn't once mention medication which was one of my biggest fears about seeing a psychiatrist.
