Simply the very best oncologist. He was kindly honest, he explained clearly and patiently everything that I needed or wanted to know. I had triple neg breast cancer and he saved my life 13 years ago

We found Dr Feeney to be an excellent oncologist; he was always an open and honest communicator, he was decisive and proactive in the treatment plan and communicated with other doctors and health professionals in a collaborative manner. We could raise any issue with him and get an honest and straight response.

Dr Kynan Feeney is the best. He is very clear on explaining treatment and what to expect. In what is a difficult time, alongside his professionalism he always has a sense of humor which is refreshing. His heart is so totally into what he is doing and that is felt by all around him. I cannot thank him enough for being there for me in my darkest hour.

Dr Feeney has been our specialist for the past 8 years and provided expert knowledge and support. At a period in your life when things are confronting, a "rock of knowledge" is amazing. Kynan provides this strength. Not always what patients "expect", but the best there is in WA.

Not a very nice person, quite rude to my elderly parents and essentially told them "your condition is untreatable" and then immediately tried to get them on an expensive treatment plan. So which is it? treatable or untreatable? It's like he just wanted to take their money because he assumed they are old and can be taken advantage of.

I have been under the care of Dr Feeney since February 2018, with ovarian cancer. He has always been caring, honest & direct with me. When I got a recurrence, his optimistic attitude gave me the confidence to have chemo again & I am now in remission & on a drug which he expects will keep me that way. He is up to date with all treatments and trials & I have recommended him to several people. As a recently retired nurse, I think I know a good doctor when I meet one.

I have read some of the previous comments about Professor Feeney and agree, yes he does talk on his Dictaphone during a consultation (which I find to be an asset in analysing future treatment) and perhaps at times his bedside manner isn't joyful and bubbly, however his professionalism is definitely at the top of his field. Moreover I personally found Dr Feeney to very Direct, Honest, who along with other staff at Peel Health Campus and Fiona Stanley Hospital, Has Saved My Life. His quick reaction to my predicament will prove to be, my constant reminder that people do care, and in fact, if he hadn't arranged the immediate treatment, then I would not have endured the Xmas of 2021... Consequently I owe my extended life due to his progressive knowledge and dedication.
Here is my journey – after my GP sent me for a PET Scan.
Results of PET SCAN 1st June 2021, indicated Clinical details: -
1 A large 10.5cm FDG avid in the Right Kidney, consistent with renal cell carcinoma
2 A 4cm FDG avid right ascending colonic carcinoma
3 Multiple bilateral FDG avid lung metastasis
4 A 3cm mildly FDG avid in the left adrenal gland, likely represents a lipid rich adenoma.
5 Multiple metastases requiring urgent colonoscopy for biopsy of ascending colon metastasis
Appointment with Peel Health Campus, Dr Feeney on 15th June 2021, who advised – Start on immunotherapy immediately – while waiting for confirmation of a Biopsy of Kidney. Dr Feeney arranged a (very quick personal favour) with colleagues for a Biopsy of my Kidney to be performed at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Patrice Black (FSH Preadmission Nurse) sent email on 8th July 2021 – and booked a procedure for the Biopsy on 16th July 2021 with Hayne Dickon as Consultant and examination performed by Dr. Anton LE ROUX.
Histopathology Report: - Conclusion MALIGNANT; Clear cell renal cell carcinoma WHO\SUP Stage 4 Grade 4, with rhabdoid differentiation and necrosis (SouthWest Pathology 16th July 2021)
Admitted to PHC for start of Immunotherapy – “Opdivo” and “Yervoy” given on this day, 18th June 2021. This being the start of Fortnightly Treatments for “Opdivo”. Plus “Yervoy” given 21st June 2021 and was administered 3 more times on a 3 weekly basis.
DR Feeney treated me up until 24th November 2021, when Dr Feeney needed to transfer me to Dr Yasir Khan of Peel Health Campus due to complications of “Ramsey Health Care” v “WA Hospitals”. With this continued treatment, I have progressed to a report from the latest PET Scan 25th August 2022, which suggests a – near complete metabolic response – with no new concerning finding otherwise demonstrated elsewhere.
My interpretation of Professor Feeney is 110% - and a HUGE THANK YOU from, Jim and immediate Family.
