I had an appointment on a Thursday, at 8:30 AM in Toronto Head and Neck clinic.
A bus from Eglinton West subway dropped me off seconds away from the clinic - convenient if you don’t want to deal with parking.
The check-in was efficient, and while in progress, the only other person in the waiting room was called in to see the doctor. My turn came 15 min later.
Upon entering the examination room, doctor Irvine greeted me cheerfully.
I expressed satisfaction that the appointment is on time and elaborated that, as the day progresses, some patients might require more complex care and this could cause delays, which made sense to me, and is the reason I try to plan 2+ hrs time for specialists visits…
My complain was ears-related. I requested for the examination to take in consideration a potential vascular condition ( arteritis ), for which I was being investigated.
The doctor listened intently. He knew all about the vascular condition, asked what had been done and suggested another investigation modality ( which I had read existed, but had not been offered ) Doctor Irvine’s knowledge made me feel safe.

We then proceeded with a very gentle examination to address my ears issue, which happened to be common and successfully treated multiple times previously by the doctor. I asked questions along the way and was given perfectly adequate details.
I also mentioned a recurring throat lymph node infection, that I did not have at the time, which prompted a quick throat check as well.
I was completely satisfied with the comprehensive examination, the opportunity to enquire details, as well as the outcome of the prescribed treatment and option for a follow-up examination, should the need arise.

My prescription was printed by the front desk receptionist and I was on my way in less than 40 min.
Based on this experience, I would trust doctor Irvine with my future ENT care and not hesitate to recommend to others for his knowledge, professionalism and caring approach!

Dr. Irvine was compassionate, gentle, and caring. He listened intently to my concerns and calmly and patiently dealt with them. The scope procedure was over extremely quickly and was much less intrusive than I thought it would be. Dr. Irvine caringly told me when the "worst was over", and the "worst" did not feel any worse than an intense nose swab during the Covid era. I am grateful that my family practitioner referred me to Dr. Irvine.

If I could give zero stars I would! Zero communication, emailed test results for a possible cancerous thyroid growth for a 18 yrs female as opposed to calling so we can actually discuss and ask questions; , hung up on my daughter when she was asking question to gain clarification on her symptoms, has not returned any calls or emails. Waited 5 weeks to get any information so we know how to proceed with next steps which still weren't provided. Terrible bedside manner, rude, and completely unprofessional! I would never ever recommend this guy! Awful!!!!!!

I was supposed to receive a phone call from dr. Irving between 4-5pm. It is now 5:30 and I never received a call. I am waiting for important test results and he has failed to provide me with this after multiple schedules meetings and phone calls. I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I have received. Additionally he had hung up on me the previous time we spoke on the phone because he claimed to not like my questions.

Unbelievably kind and reassuring. He allayed all my fears and worries about having the scope. I wasn’t prepared to have it at the appointment but I’m glad I did. I did not feel any discomfort and it was over so quickly. He is an exceptional doctor.

Dr. Irvine is amazing. I am sad to hear he has moved his practice to Toronto. He's drained a gland below my tongue 2x a year for 15 years. Incredibly knowledgeable, kind, patient, and an excellent communicator. Will be dearly missed in Vancouver!

After seeing several different ENT specialist in Toronto that couldn't help me I started doing an extensive amount of research and I finally came up on Dr Irvine. I spoke with him on the phone and he made me feel very comfortable and confident that my procedure could be done. I flew over to Vancouver and saw Dr Irvine. The staff at the hospital were exceptional and Dr Irvine did my surgery successfully. It's was a wonderful experience overall and I am very happy I went. Thanks to Dr Irvine and everyone at St Paul's Hospital.
