He was cold, unfeeling, uninterested, and unbelievably insensitive and rude. My experience with Dr. Spivak was traumatic.

Dr. Spivak is extremely knowledgeable in the field of psychiatry. That's not the issue. He is simply there to provide medication. He is not interested in hearing from a patient, or how the patient feels, and in his own words, that is not his role. His role is medication and medication only. If one needs cognitive behavior therapy, or any other type of outreach or counseling, then seek it outside of Dr. Spivak's practice. Honestly, his only practice is the art of medication. Also, do not question him, because he is always right. Wow, what an ego.

Dr Spivak was the psychiatrist that did my asses,e t for my insurance through great west life, it seems after reading other comments that's what he does. I have to support others comments that he works for the insurance company NOT for your best interests. I have been diagnosed with PTSD anxiety depression chronic insomnia from my employment. Within the first 3 minutes he said I did not have PTSD because I don't have nightmares (I don't have nightmares because I don't sleep!) he changed all my diagnosis that other psychologists and psychiatrists that have worked with me extensively within the first 15 mins. He also made recommendations for medication changes. If he even took the time to listen to me or read my attending Drs comments he would have seen that the medications he wants me on I had horrible reactions to and I'm red flagged for them. Then get this....half way through my assessment he fell asleep! No joke! Bottom line is that no matter what your attending doctors recommendations and treatment plans are this guys opinion, as misinformed as it is trumps everything g they have to say. Because of him I am now being forced back to work where I work with the public on limited hours of sleep (max 2hrs a night), continual intrusive thoughts and anxiety attacks that are sometimes completely debilitating. He also said it was his opinion that I have substance abuse problems when in reality I don't smoke, do drugs or drink , and haven't in over 10 years! Not due to addiction, due to choice. This man is dreadful

I was referred to him for a medical assement for my insurance company. I was scared to meet with him after reading the reviews. To my surprise, Dr. Spivak is extremely straight forward and has great recommendations. He is very pleasant and easy to speak with. If I had the option to have him as my full time Doctor, I would. Great doctor: would recommend him to anyone.

I was sent to Dr. Spivak by my insurance company for an assessment. I was terrified based on some reviews I read but I was very relieved to discover he is actually a great guy. He's very quick to put you at ease and he is very down to earth. His diagnosis was consistent with that of my family physician and his recommendations made sense. I was very pleased to have met him and would have liked to have him as my regular Dr.

He is direct. Told me I scare people with my anger. Told me I would be morbid mortality. He's right, so many medical restrictions only working life that I am living a degraded quality of life. Want to give me a labotamie, said he couldn't get to past a board so he didn't try. I tried to kill myself with sleeping pills, didn't take me into hospital. Didn't want to tLk about it either. For that I thank him. found a good doctor.

I was referred by The insurance company for an independent medical assessment. If this happens to you be aware that his reporting will only support the insurer to dump you from coverage. The assessment started late due to his not being able to find the paperwork and it wrapped up early. He was dismissive of other medical professionals. He wrapped up stating that he would not change the medication and that he could not discuss the assessment directly with me. I received a call from my insurer that the medical evidence does not support my continuance on LTD. I guess his 35 minute assessment carries more weight than the medical professionals that are actually treating me for the several months I have been struggling with my issues.

I too meet with Dr. Spivak for an Independant Medical Examination from my my LTD provider. I too feel he had already made up his mind about me before I attended this meeting. He tried to discourage me from further treatment and dismissed my two family Doctors and three former Physcologists diagnose. He lost his temper and TRIED to intimidate me. He told me I talk in "circles" and don't really want help. I guess he makes those assumptions in 1 1/3 hours verses my lifetime of therapy. When I told him he was being negative and I realize he is supposed to save the insurance company money he got extremely frustrated and told me he has seen several thousand patients and only three have ever said that to him before! Yeah right! I have read a dozen reviews already where patients mention the same problem. He told me he never gets this angry with patients, so, I guess I was the problem. :/ Hmmm, my opinon, talk to your family Doctor to see a different Phychiatrist for second opinion.
