Dr. Axelrod just performed a complicated dupetron contacture on my left hand which was compounded with a cyst. His expertise, knowledge and patience are excellent. Thank you Dr. Axelrod.

I snapped my humerus in two, this doctor not only put it back together (15 screws and a plate) but 15 years later it is still in fantastic shape, no arthritis as predicted. Yes the hospital is slow with the huge volume and understaffed wards, but to get attention and expertise like this ... definitely worth the wait.

Just found this site by accident. Dr Axelrod repaired both my wrists in Sept 2011. left one was wrecked and the right badly damaged and this skilled surgeon with a patient sensitive manner gave me more post accident use of my left hand than most expected - he even surpassed his own early prognosis. He is a true professional.

My forearm was snapped in half. Dr. Axelrod's repair consisted of twelve screws and two plates that are half the length of my arm each. Within twelve weeks of surgery I could lift 150+ pounds, and I can play the piano again.

I'd give him 5 stars across if it wasn't for the awful management of Sunnybrook hospital. I sat in the ER for twelve hours (note: not an exaggeration) midday with my arm literally bent in half without so much as an aspirin. I can understand if, say, a bus full of children had crashed recently, but it was simply appallingly organized, under-staffed, and the attendant nurse was rude and unprofessional despite my calm and composure. In hindsight, I should have just started screaming until they did something, and shall remember to do so in the future. Hardly Dr. Axelrod's fault however.

Dr. Axelrod operated on my left arm to remove a heterotopic ossification that was blocking my elbow at a 90-degree angle. Before recommending surgery, Dr. Axelrod thoroughly analyzed the X-Ray and MRI to ensure the risks to the nerves and blood vessels are minimal. He took the time to explain to me and my family the risks and expectations of the surgery. The operation took place successfully in January at Holland Center. After surgery I had minimal pain and the wound closed nicely. At the follow-up visit Dr. Axelrod recommended physiotherapy. Seven months later my left arm is practically straight and fully functional. I can certify that Dr. Axelrod and his staff are true professionals.

Dr. Axelrod met with me on 2 occasions in regards to my shoulder. The first time he saw me and went over my MRI and as well a physical exam of my shoulder he made it seem like he wasn't sure how I was living with such a horrible injury. He told me I would 100% need surgery and that I should have had surgery months prior. He requested I get another MRI to figure out exactly what and where needed to be fixed. After getting that MRI and seeing him again he told me that there was nothing wrong with my shoulder and another month of physio would "make me all better". I was a bit confused about how I could go from dire straights to perfectly fine? After 1 more month of physio and not being healed I got a second opinion and as it turns out I did need surgery and got it shortly after first seeing surgeon #2, my shoulder is better than ever now. He was very nice as a person but to anyone seeing him, I would strongly suggest getting a second opinion.
