Please read this review if you are considering Dr. Watts as your Orthopedic Surgeon. I am a 67 year old male who has had a far amount of experience sadly with various surgical procedures. When it was discovered that I required a replacement of my left hip late in 2020, I wanted to search out an Orthopedic Surgeon that did the anterior approach as I was familiar with the advantages, and my existing surgeon was not very experienced in this method. My wife has been an Office Manager of a General Surgeon out of a different hospital for the last 16 years and offered to use her resources to assist me in my quest. When she reached out to the previous head of orthopedics at their hospital, he very strongly recommended a young surgeon working out of Markham Stouffville Hospital named Evan Watts that he had heard nothing but great things about.

As a result, I got a referral to see Dr. Watts and received an appointment fairly quickly. As already mentioned, I have had considerable experiences with surgeons, both orthopedic and others, and I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a caring, compassionate and confidence inspiring physician. His knowledge and advice regarding my hip as well as my right knee which I knew needed replacement as well was very thorough and consice, and he strongly recommended doing the hip first in spite of the knee being much more painful at the time.

I took his advice and we proceeded accordingly, with my surgery being completed about 2 months later, during the early stages of Covid. All I can say about Dr. Watts is that his wonderful and caring approach is only surpassed by his incredible surgical skills. I was walking with a walker for 2 days, then a cane for maybe 4 more days, and in 3 weeks I was able to drive 2 hours to our cottage with one 5 minute break to walk around a bit to loosen things up.

A year and a half later, still during Covid I went back to do my right knee which was a total replacement and although recovery was tougher than the hip, ultimately I was good as new. Since then, I have recommended several friends and relatives to look into Dr. Watts for their issues, and all have thanked me repeatedly for a great recommendation.

I cannot overemphasize how amazing Dr. Evan Watts is as both an extremely gifted surgeon and a truly wonderful human being! I would also like to add that the staff at the Markham Stouffville Fracture Clinic are very pleasant as well as efficient.

Dr Watts is the best orthopedic surgeon ever. I had double knee replacement successfully. He is very thorough and caring throughout all of the process. I strongly recommend him without any hesitation....no one is better, he is brilliant at his task.

His while team, especially Natasha was super helpful and caring as well. Also ,the Nurses at MSH were excellent. Thank you so much Dr Watts and Team!

Diagnosed with Severe OA both hips in 2021. Had a consult with DR Watts in Nov of that year. He recommended replacement. Explained the procedure and expected results. Very thorough and very personable.
Both procedures performed in 2022. Day surgery. Results .... Excellent. Full range of motion, no discomfort, no complications. IMHO a very gifted Surgeon who has improved my life 10 fold.

I was absolutely so impressed with Dr Watts, he is kind, knowledgeable and very thorough. The staff in the Fracture clinic are also very helpful and kind. I cannot say thank you enough for their help and professionalism. I transferred from another clinic because I wanted better care. I am fortunate that an ER doctor gave me a referral to Dr. Watts, this is going to save my knee and make me feel heard and comfortable. I heard him with his other patients as well and he is so genuine! Markham Stouffville is the place for top notch care!

I had chronic hip discomfort for a number of years and Dr Watts diagnosed me with osteoarthritis in both hips. He walked me through the process and explained thoroughly what I was in store for. His staff then contacted me via zoom to further meet my needs and answer all of my questions and address any concerns I had. I am now (Jan 4 2022), three weeks post op and doing very well. Dr Watts performed the “Anterior approach” maintaining a minimally invasive technique which is why my recovery is going so well. My incision had zero staples and removed the bandage after two weeks to find a very small scar and that’s it! Thigh pain and numbness will hopefully dissipate and I will have more use of my leg/hip than ever before. Thanks Dr Watts for taking care of this long overdue issue. Also big thanks to your staff and the staff at Markham stoufville hospital.

Dr. Watts performed a knee arthroscopy for my meniscus last year, and I am happy with the result. He did inform me that because of the severity of my injury and cartilage damage, that recovery would be difficult and I may need procedures in the future for osteoarthritis. I appreciated his honesty, but being relatively young, I didn't want to believe him. Of course, he was right and even after a year of physiotherapy, my knee isn't the same pre-injury. This has nothing to do with Dr. Watts, but the reality of my situation. I am able to do everything I used to do, but now with some discomfort. I will likely see Dr. Watts again in the near future for the nSTRIDE injections, which he strongly recommended.

I went to see Dr Watts in the fracture clinic. Unfortunately, I was told he was covering one of his colleagues that fell ill so the fracture clinic was running behind. Dr Watts saw me with so much positive energy. He shared with me my XRAYS and he reassured me that everything was going to be okay after some physiotherapy. Sure enough he was right! I’m back at work amd healthy as a horse. Thank you Dr Watts
