Dr. Finelli is a human being and not the angel described in those posted comments, I.e. He makes mistakes too and my case were full of terrible results. The Da Vinci
machine was thought to be risk free of the common side effects associated with prostate surgeries done manually, that is why I decided to go to Toronto and have the surgery done there rather than proceed with the local specialist in my town, with the hospital located just across my house.
The net result after almost three years of that surgery I know that I am crippled for the rest of my life suffering from all side effects listed in the book associated with this surgery including gastro intestinal disturbances, total loss of erection and urine in continence that is getting worse with time. Kiegel exercises are totally useless, never worked, despite reaching 100 times a day. Dr. Finelli has no solutions for those problems, yet as soon as he noticed that I am not a happy patient he looks after my case himself, only to discuss PSA results, so that nobody would hear about the existence of an unhappy crippled forever patient.

At first and second visits, Dr. Finelli was pleasant and reassuring. After those initial visits, he didn't even bother to come into the room to give my mother an update on her condition. He sends resident doctors to give results and to speak to the patient about the next course of action. I've had to ask for him specifically to come in and discuss results. When he does come into the room, he seems to be in a hurry to get out. My mother is a senior and I accompany her to all the appointments so that I can ask questions, get clarification and make sure we are making informed decisions. Dr. Finelli is her doctor and he should be present and leading each appointment. He should not be sending substitutes.

Dr. Finelli was a recommendation from a neighbour who recently had surgery by Dr. Finelli's team. He came very highly rated and I was not disappointed starting from the initial consult, many questions to Dr. Finelli's assistant Delicia, and clinical resource Leah and the actual surgery. Even though there were several operations going on I did not feel for one minute that I was not a priority. I was explained each step along the way and was put at ease in a stressful situation as having surgery for the first time in my life. The surgery lasted 3 hours and I was up and walking within 5 hours. I was released the next day...less that 24 hours after the surgery. Positive attitude, physical condition and age(56) helped in my recovery. The head anesthesiologist even came back after the surgery to check on my condition....very impressive. This surgery was done using the DaVinci Unit. Dr. Finelli is a skilled and empathetic surgeon. His credentials are second to none- Associate Professor University of Toronto, oncologist, surgeon and researcher. I would recommend him for urology problems to anyone.

Dr Finelli came as a recommendation from a good friend who had surgery 2 years ago. He told me of his experience and the Da Vinci device. He could not say enough about Dr Finelli's team. He also wrote to the team to get me a consultation. At first Dr Finelli's bed side manners where a little terse/cool. My friend had said that I might get that impression. As a scientific professional myself I am in tune with the whole client interaction process. I have to say that once things got going - I was OUT. Apparently my surgery was about 3 hrs. The whole recovery process went well. As a young man (56) for all this I think my age and physical condition helped in my recovery.If nothing else - do the Kegil Exercises!!!! I cant stress this enough. Also, everyone's recovery is different. for the first two to four weeks - TAKE IT EASY. The stitches look like nothing but you have had MAJOR surgery, they went thru your abdominal wall!. Walk lots like they suggest. I think that my controlled-incontinence was due to the Kegil Exercises and some luck/good health.I think that this procedure(using the DaVinci Unit) is/will be the norm - bar none. My BIG question - What is causing all this - environment, diet etc. These great doctors are providing a solution.they are not providing a prevention!!!!

The First time I came to see Doctor Finelli I confess to have been at the nadir of my life. I found that reality was closing in on me and something had to be done. The intellectual part of me
understood but emotionally I was a mess. Enter Dr. Finelli coruscating power that changed my attitude completely. There was something about that man that made me relaxed and comfortable if I had known him from long ago, he sat and his first question was...." Are you in shape? Because if you are not start at it right away and get at the best shape that you can." In detail we discussed my case and in touching my shoulder he said " I will take care of you but get in shape!". There are no words to describe my experience with Dr. Finelli and his team, they embraced me from the beginning thoroughly checking and rechecking preparing me for the big day, it is pleasant to be treated with such a explicate politeness and candor. Dr. Finellie's team was awesome and tireless and nice, they were magnificent if I may say so my self. At this point I am free of cancer and god willing I will be visiting Dr, Finelli this June. I could dive into farther details of my experience but I know to that Dr. Finelli and his team are not egolatras, they do there job to make you well. How can I forget Dr. Finelli's secretary Mrs. Blair and the urologist that came to see me at the emergency!? For you ladies I could not find adjectives to qualify you so I include you in my prayers. In finishing I wish I had auditory skills of caesural skills to make it right but I don't, Dr. Finelli and is august character knowledge and courage with his selected best became a monument of talent for me so I say know I'm glad I lived in the era of you all! For those that may need help please go and see Dr, Finelli and his team because you are in good hands!!
