I was referred to Dr. Shier after years of issues and being labelled a "medical mystery" because Dr. Shier is supposedly the pioneer of this stuff. After waiting months to get in, he says he wants to do a "wait and watch" approach as if that isn't what I've already been forced to do for years? Went back for my 3 month follow up ..he acknowledged I looked no better but to "watch and wait" another 3 months. Meanwhile I was getting worse and in tremendous pain. I prefer doctors who actually do something...

I had a great experience with Dr. Shier. Some may comment on his lack of bedside manner. I would much rather see a Dr for his expertise vs his bedside manner. He is very knowledgeable and I understand why he so highly regarded. He was very kind and answered all my questions today during my procedure. I had a much less painful experience today vs procedures in the past that were way less invasive. Everyone at the clinic from Nurse Angela to the front desk staff to the resident Dr were all incredible.

I left the room in tears. I have chronic vaginal issues so I've seen manyyyy OBs/vulvar specialists over the years and I have to say Dr. Shier was one of the worst. I saw him twice (tried giving him the benefit of the doubt the first time) and I left feeling worse both times.

I had gone through Women's College Menopause Clinic, then Mt. Sinai Menopause Clinic and none of them know anything really new about HRT. So was referred to this Dr. Shier because he apparently has trained a few other Gynecologists to work with lasers. He is supposed to be the most knowledgeable. It has taken me two years to get around to seeing this specialist. It's bad enough to have to see a male physician for gynecological problems, but in walks a different male trainee to "take a look" before the main doctor comes in. So at one point, I have the trainee, a nurse and Dr. Shier all looking while I'm lying on this examination chair. Why not invite a few more people in to watch? Frankly I'm really sick of waiting for 9 or more months to see specialists in Toronto and on top of the ridiculous wait times, EVERY time, you are first seen by a doctor in training, then the real specialist comes in and gives you two minutes of their precious time. Dr. Shier seemed in a great hurry, too busy to really answer questions or give much in the way of answers. I felt rushed, and of course, after he left, I remembered a few questions I wish I'd asked. All they do is give you prescriptions that have side effects. On another note, there doesn't seem to be anyone who specializes in HRT, the doctors now are all going on old information and not updating their training. Apparently Dr. Shier is one of only a few doctors who is trained in using a laser for external gynecological problems.

Dr. Shier has treated me for 10 years. He is always gentle, kind and respectful, and ensures that I receive any follow-up treatment asap. As busy as he is, he always has time to explain whatever my problem is, and make me feel better.

It is time for this dr to hang up his coat. He is dismissive and to be honest completely useless and probably harmful to patients. Leaves patients feeling hopeless and really turns them away from healthcare professionals. Do the profession a favour and just STOP!!!!!!!

I have been treated by Dr. Shier for over 5 years. Before I was referred to him my condition was not diagnosed. I was in pain by the time I was referred. He treated me with the upmost caring and respect. He has always answered all of my many questions. When he makes a suggestion for a procedure I ask about it and then do my research. I have a rare disease and he has made my life better. It is a busy office. Sometimes he runs late. He always knows who I am. His staff are always pleasant and helpful. I feel very grateful for Dr. Shier and his staff.

Dude needs to retire. TERRIBLE bedtime manners - he never says bye, he has literally always just abruptly left the room before the convo was mutually finished. I've had issues for 3 years, he threw 3 possible answers at me..but then refused to test for anything or treat anything. Told me to "do nothing" (as if I hadn't already) to see if it'd magically fix itself after 3 YEARS..and come back in 2 months. When I went back he acknowledged I had zero improvement and his solution? Do nothing..and come back in 3 months. Aka "I have no clue how to help and my ego is too big to admit it." When I asked him a question he clearly didn't know the answer to..he just stared at me then left the room without a peep. The nurse gave me a sympathetic look before leaving. It's never fun leaving an appointment feeling MORE helpless than what you got there. I've noticed most the positive reviews are old, maybe he was good before becoming a senile dck. I won't be going back, don't waste your time.
