I pay cash to see her. She is not only one of the best psychiatrists I have worked with, but I would also consider her one of the better physicians I know. I do not expect perfection, but she has surpassed my expectations. I thought I would get an average psychiatrist that would prescribe me something to help me through a difficult time or maybe even some platonic chit chat. BUT instead I found a psychiatrist that understood both pharmacology and cognitive therapy. She helped me work through that difficult time, not just exist though it. She gave more than a bandaid...she gave me healing. I was not expecting THAT. I feel blessed to have found her. I can not comment on other's experiences as I think, in this field, it can be highly dependent on the patient's needs and expectations. But MY experience was excellent and I have high respect and regard for her. In my opinion, she is truely a master of a dying art. I tip my hat to her.

Extremely knowledgeable regarding medications. A little hard to talk to, but otherwise listens and explains everything thoroughly.

Psychiatrists have told me I am very difficult to work with. Mavis was the only doctor that reached in and was able to lead me out of my shell. She is intense with an exceptional memory. resulting in sessions that are productive.

She has a lot of knowledge. I dont believe in these medications and I think she was a little quick to prescribe. But overall I think she has positive intentions. I think she have to be really careful with the side effects and I dont always feel she is.

Dr. Donnelly is intelligent, introspective, and thorough in her diagnosis. Like most psychiatrists, she requires the first meeting to be an hour so that patient history can be assessed and the charts from previous physicians are made available to her. I was a student at U of A and new to Tucson I got lost on my way there. Suffice to say I was late, and Dr. Donnelly was not happy, as she had to make our session short for her 7:00 apt. She is really nice, and apologized for coming off upset. The reason why I find Dr. Donnelly so helpful is that she doesn't hide behind a computer (like a court reporter). Instead she actively participates in a psychiatric interview as a commentator of sorts; injecting her positive, effective advice into the psychotherapeutical session. She is very empathetic and never have i felt like a burden to her. You might think she is eccentric, but I think she is really a blessing. When upset I just imagine discussing my problems with her w/o charge :) .
