Dr. Paton is outstanding. Yes you will probably have to wait to see her, but that should tell you something. She is in demand because she is one of the very best opthamologists in Canada.

My wife has been a patient of hers for over 20 years and I have been a patient for nearly 10. We both consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have her as our doctor and dread the thought that one day she will probably retire.

Dr. Paton is incredibly dedicated, last year I started to get flashing lights in one of my eyes. I phoned from work and asked her receptionist to tell her what was happening to me. I received a call back within an hour. The receptionist told me that Dr. Paton wanted to see me that day, and that she would stay at her office until 8 pm and would see me whenever I was able to get there. As we live in Abbotsford this gave me ample time to leave work and get in to see her.
She also gave me her private email address so that I could contact her if I had any further concerns or problems.

So, for those people complaining about wait times, just expect to wait. She doesn't rush her eye examinations, she spends as much time as necessary. Be thankful that you have her as your doctor and bring a book to read.

I waited over 6 hours to see Dr. Paton and then when I was finally in the examination room she left to deal with other patients. All day long her staff was telling me that people were being seen in order of priority (appointment time) but I kept seeing other people arriving and being seen by her before myself and others. When I was finally in the examination room I overhead the staff saying that she picks and chooses who she sees and when. At this point I was done and I left the office. There is no other word to describe their administration other than ABUSIVE. When I asked her about the 6 hour wait she said "well you can see I'm the only one here". That is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. There is no excuse for the wait time or lies that are being told by her staff. Everyone who has had to wait more than an hour to see her should be complaining to the College of Physicians and Surgeons so that they can get in there and fix that mess that is her administration so this doesn't happen to other people. She should also be made to compensate the patients that have had to wait for hours and hours by paying for their parking and their hourly work rate at the very least, not to mention the damage to your body from sitting in those chairs for hours.

A truly superb doctor. No matter how long you have to wait to see her, she is so worth it. She is a very adept surgeon; her knowledge and experience are worth their weight in gold. She answers even the stupidest questions with good humour and aplomb, and knows exactly how to ally fear and anxiety. This is one doctor whom you can trust will provide you with the very best possible care and attention imaginable. I am so damned lucky to have been referred to her as a patient.

Excellent doctor. Her treatment regimen took my stage 2 tumour to completely cured. Very cordial but all business during treatment. She gives full attention and time needed, add to that surgeries on clinic days and yes there can be long wait times. I’ve learned to pay for all day parking. I would sooner wait and be cured than leave in a huff and see my cancer metastasize. Dr Paton is human like the rest of us and is extremely busy and constantly in demand.

Terrible experiences here. Her staff is extremely rude and have said a couple things that are way out of line. There is zero empathy or compassion at the office and am fairly certain that the type of neglience at this office has lead to further and more serious problems. If you have the choice DO NOT go here, believe me, even going out of province or out of country you'll get better care than with this office.

It unconscionable that a waiting room full of patients are expected to wait with no explanation as to why they have been kept in their holding pen ; 2 hours after today’s scheduled appointment already, and counting, and 5 1/2 hours last time in October. We thought that was an anomaly but, after noting other comments, the incoherent staff need to be made to update patients as a simple courtesy and thoroughly revamp the Doctor’s front desk operation. No matter how good she may be, Dr. Paton needs to immediately see to her scheduling problems and organization. They obviously now do not even remotely compare to her medical skills.

There is no excuse for consistently having to wait 5hrs to get into doctor's office. The eye drops that were administered in the waiting room had worn off and had to be replied by the doctor followed by another half hour wait. I ended up with a 67dollar parking ticket since I was parked 5 blocks away!! The waiting problem is strictly a booking problem and inexcusable! The receptionist was unavailable most of that time preferring to work in the area behind and out of sight of the waiting room. There is a total lack of respect for other people's time!!

The issue is not "be grateful" that we can access good eye care in Canada, nor whether Dr. Paton is an excellent ophthalmologist. It is her system - not the health care system but HER system - which is unacceptable. To treat patients with such disdain and disrespect just because we are hostage to her services is nothing short of disgusting and shameful. Running late is completely understandable but to consistently run HOURS - 3, 4 HOURS late indicates a serious need to overhaul everything about how the office is run. Deplorable. This will NOT happen to me ever again as I will never come back. Just bc people say she is great doesn't mean all other opthamalogists in the city are incompetent; come on people all of you who are defending her, unless she is actually God there are other options. Truly disgusting.

I've been a regular patient of Dr. Paton for many years and, although she is a very knowlegable doctor, the wait times to get in to your appointed time are simply not acceptable. I've had occasion to wait until 7:00 PM for a 4:00 PM appointment.

The doctor is great (experience, skill, attention to detail) but the management of patients thru the office is deplorable. Waited 6.5 months for routine checkup appointment. Over 2 days could not reach anyone at the desk via phone calls and the telephone mail box is full. Arrived on time for appointment then waited 3 hr 40 min to see the doctor with no alert from the front desk or explanation. All 14 or so chairs in the waiting room were occupied plus about 5 people were waiting on benches in the main floor lobby. I have been thru 5 different medical specialist over last 6 years and never waited more than about 15 min on arriving at the doctor office. Dr. Paton's front desk should inform every patient on arrival how long the wait time will be, and if longer than 30 min explain why, and inform patients at the time of booking that the wait in the office may be hours. The front desk needs to treat patients in the waiting room from a customer service point of view, not as a group of 20 ungrateful cattle in a holding pen.
