If you have an appointment leave yourself a minimum 12 hours for it. Not once in the four appointments have I had with her it was not an 18 hour day. Granted I live out of Vancouver but I have come to her office at 8:30 in the morning and she saw me at 6:30 that night. Absolutely no where to sit because the place is packed. Complete disregard for patients time. This is a referral otherwise I would have only put up with this crap once. I got here today so 1:00pm it’s now 6:00pm zero, nothing just staring at the same people in the same boat. When I got here at 1:00 I am as told the patient she was seeing appointment was at 9:15am. So there you go. If I am lucky might get home to bed by1:00 am. BTW she spends 10 minutes with you.

We are so lucky to have a Dr of her calliber in BC. She takes the time to explain the choices that you have and what to expect. I was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma and she brought me through the whole process with great skill. She works long hours to make sure that she sees all of her patients. So be patient and thankful that we have her.

I wish people would stop moaning about having to wait. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Paton for over 20 years. Yes you usually have to wait. Why? Because she is thorough. She is one of the best ophthalmologists in the country. She will go out of her way to help you. I had a situation where I started getting flashing lights in one of my eyes at work. I phoned her office and they got back to me within an hour to tell me that she would fit me in that day and that she would be working until 8pm and to get there as soon as I was able. In this day and age finding a doctor who will do that for you is extremely rare. I really appreciate having her as our doctor and worry about what we will do when she retires.

This doctor is ALWAYS behind schedule, not by minutes but by hours. She never apologizes to the patient for being late. She probably dosen't even know what time your appointment was as her staff did not advise her!

Dr Paton is top notch. Yes you’re gonna wait a while , yes it’s boring, but If you truly want the best care on the planet. You wait it out. She is insanely knowledgeable, she explains everything that she is doing/studying etc. I am 25 and have been seeing her for the last 2 years for my ocular melanoma. I couldn’t have been blessed with a better doctor.

Also grace deserves a 5 star review. She is on top of everything and makes sure I have all my papers in order before leaving !

I have worked with Dr. Paton and have seen how she talks to her staff. She is demeaning and disrespectful on a regular basis. This speaks volumes for the kind of work environment she cultivates- mistakes can be made if your staff are terrified to even ask you a question.

Ok so for punctuality and her staff, they get lower than stellar marks. But Dr. Paton is extreme knowledgeable and one of the top ocular oncologists in Canada. Yes the wait is about 6 hours but you're in Canada, healthcare is free. In the US, the same visit will run you $60k, is that worth 6 hours? Once you are in the office with Dr. Paton, she is 100% focused on you. Tip: try to get the first appointment in the morning to avoid the wait

The best of all doctors - you will need to book off at least a half a day as she almost always runs overtime . Why? because she is detailed and thorough, personable, never rushed. IOW, the best.

Though Dr. Paton is knowledgeable, she has extremely poor bedside manner. She is rude and awkward. I have witnessed on more than one occasion her demeaning her nursing staff which is pretty uncool. I feel like that speaks volumes for her standard of care. Find another opthalmologist. This is not the one you want.

Dr. Paton is one of the best oncologists we have seen during my dad's cancer treatment. She is very thorough and makes sure her patients understand everything about their treatment plan.
We didn't have to wait to see her, possibly because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but I believe she is worth the wait!

I highly recommend Dr. Paton
