His mistakes ruined lives. A 3 night hospital stay turned into 6months and lives forever changed. Horrible. Be warned.

Dr. Barrow seems like quite a nice man. Doesn't seem to be particluarly skilled in rare schwannomas like mine. HIs ENT was unimpressive. But this low rating is a function of KARI, his nurse/PA. She is smug, uncaring and curt in every way. Shame on her for having zero regard for patient's physical/emotional condition.

Would not recommend him to anyone!! Came from out of town to have Chiari malformation surgery and had a really good consult with him about what he was going to do. Did the surgery and had complications later due to the surgery not being done correctly. Went back and was told that this is a normal complication and just leave it alone. So I read through my medical records from the surgery and guess what D r. Barrow didnt even do my surgery he decided to let a resident do it!!!!! If I wanted a resident to do it I would have stayed home and let someone here do it. You dont search and search and find out from other patients to try and find the best brain surgeon to be operated on by a resident!! plus we were never informed by anyone that a resident would be doing it. We were deceived by him. Also I think the outcome of the surgery would have been different if Dr Barrow would have preformed it. We should have been told beforehand so we could had the option of not going through with the surgery. This is completely wrong.

I doubt I'd be here if it weren't for Dr. Barrow. I had a AVM removed when I was 13, he was very caring and kept me calm and less scared.

Dr. Barrow is truly God sent. I was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation on April 16 2013 which happens to be my birthday. Dr. Barrow performed my surgery May 21st I was in and out because of the medicine but I remember seeing him at least 4 times in 2 days. He really cares about his patients. I already told my mom if I have to have the surgery again it has to be done by him. Thanks for being a great doctor

On Dec. 7th 2004 I had a disection in the right frontal portion of my brain. After spending 4 an a half weeks in Patricia Neal Stroke center in Knoxville Tn. I was sent to Dr. Barrow with the encouragement that if he couldn't fix me, I couldn't be fixed. He did surgery on me on March 2nd 2005 and I had a second stroke, which he warned me I might have, the next day. I had just resumed the use of my left limbs and then lost the use again. He told me I might be in a wheel chair for a year but i walked out of the hospital 5 days later. God gave him the talent and he sure used it on me. I have since regained full use of my limbs but still have a lot of weakness in them. My fault I guess. Great Doctor and staff. Without a doubt Emory Hospital is the best medical facility I have ever been in. From the Janitors to the Top people they were the most nice, polite and helpful I have been priviledged to meet. Would HIGHLY recommend them. Thanks to Dr. Barrow I'm alive today.

Dr. Barrow was a last resort to save my sons life 10 years ago. We recently went back in, really just to let him see how my now 13 yr. Old son is. I was reminded once again why we went to Dr. barrow in the first place. He is an unassuming gentleman, he waits for your questions, I never felt rushed, and he makes you completely at ease. He is obviously very knowledgeable about his field, but never made me feel ignorant for asking questions. He always patiently explained each process. My son is now 13 and as unusual as my sons case was, I believe without a doubt that D. barrow saved his life. He was willing to do a surgery on my son that other Neurosurgeons wouldn't dare think of. I now have a healthy son that skates, rides bikes and does all the typical things any other teenager would do. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Barrow.

I had a blood vessel rupture in my brain. Dr. Barrow was exceptional in repairing and saving me. Upon arrival to the first hospital, I was only given a 10% chance of survival and more than likely with permanent impairment. With Dr. Barrow's surgery and care, I am living a perfectly normal life with no side effects. I would rate him one of the top neurosurgeons in the US and am glad that he is at Emory.
