I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Thorne as my doctor. He is an incredible listener and has helped me through both illness and injury. I have never had an issue with either him or his staff. Wonderful doctor!

Good doctor, but too busy! He has many commitments and it often out of the country when you need him.

Although I agree that Dr Thorne is a bit tough to get into because of his work with the Canadian hockey team, he is still a fabulous Dr. when we get to see him. He is very thorough, never rushes through appointments and answers any questions I may have about anything, regardless of whether I came for that or not. He has been my doctor since the 80's and is now my daughter's (who is 2). He is very, very good at sport injuries but also knows a lot about babies and everything else. He makes follow up appointments with me if I need and I can get in a bit quicker if I do that too. He's very kind and if I don't understand something, he usually draws me a diagram which I find to be very helpful. I would suggest him to anyone (that is, if you can get into him!).

J. Thorne, MD, has been listening to, diagnosing and treating my 'complaints and ailments' before and since assuming my file from the practice of the Great J.R.Ibberson, MD, in about 1986-87. People who know me for fixing what needs fixing and being with Dr. J. is not in that category. People have choice. It is my choice (and wish) that if/when Dr. Thorne takes on new family practice patients that I will be the first in line with my child (my legacy). I concider it a privilege to have Dr. Thorne caring for me. Something he has done before the Flames, Stampeders and Hockey Canada and continues to do.

Dr. Jim Thorne was the primary care physician to the Calgary Flames when the organization jumped the queue to have their players vaccinated for H1N1 before pregnant women, young children, and other high risks groups. Nov 3, 2009. Shame on him.

The staff at the sports centre have been a disaster to deal with. I have NEVER been able to speak to someone when I call and I am never able to get them to return calls when I leave a message - I have to stop by the facility - this experience has been unbelievable. Dr Thorne himself was also extremely late when I finally did get an appointment. I cannot argue that he is knowledgeable and capable - but I suspect he is spread too thin to be a truly effective practitioner.
