I have been seeing Dr. Tenenbaum now for about 6 months, during which he has helped me more than anyone has in 17 years! In 1998 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (without any testing) and have seen countless doctors and specialists who have always brushed me off saying nothing could be done and I would just have to live with it. My condition has significantly worsened each year, and at times, I am completely non functioning and unable to even get out of bed. I am only 44 years old. Dr. T has recognized that my situation is completely unacceptable and without hesitation started ordering tests and x-rays and has gave me his word that he will do his upmost to get me to a point where I am able to function on a day to day basis with minimal pain. Dr. T is very different than any other medical professional I have ever seen. He wants to see my symptom pattern for a period of time on and off medication....he refuses to just diagnose or "label" me until he is clear on what is exactly going on. No other specialist even cared or saw me more than twice! He does not question my pain and knows that at 44 years old, this kind of pain is just not normal! I highly respect his decision making. Dr. T has always been very kind and compassionate and genuinely cares about my health, it was obvious from my very first appointment. He has never failed to answer any of my questions (and I ask alot) and he explains his thoughts and my test results very carefully and in great detail. I find his receptionist to be kind and always greets me with a smile. I have not had too much to do with her because Dr. T books his own appointments and he is always on time! Really.....what more could you anyone ask for? Vancouver Island has been seriously lacking in Rheumatologists for a long time. I consider myself very lucky to be able to see someone of his caliber on the island!

Dr. Tenenbaum is extremely knowledgeable and able. He is empathic and compassionate. He does have a no nonsense attitude. He is a reasonable man and wants to treat his patients to the best of his ability.

Dr. Tenenbaum is "to the point". At first I wasn't sure I liked him but that faded and I found him very knowledgeable. Compared to another Rheumatologist that I saw in Victoria, Dr. Tenebaum actually listened and understood my issues, and is the one I trust to help me. If you want to help the both of you make a list of your symptoms and give it to him when you go in.

Dr. Tenenbaum is brisk, no doubt about it. But he is also reasonable and I do get the sense that he wants to assist me. I have gone to him after seven years of pain that other doctors chalked up to injury or depression, despite it being chronic, wide spread and random flare ups. The doctor ordered x-rays, blood work and a bone scan. This week I was in such bad pain that I called to see if they could fit me in earlier than my scheduled appointment in November to discuss my results, and I got in this afternoon - the same day - which I am very grateful for. I am interested in getting a second opinion on my diagnosis but on the whole I think Dr. Tenenbaum is a qualified and competent doctor - some of the reviews below are clearly by the same individual with a bone to pick.

Dr. Tenenbaum is an effective and to the point doctor. Yes he orders many tests - all of which he needs to come to a true and accurate diagnosis for your condition. Rather than just saying "your tests came back and it all looks good", he goes through the results with you and helps to make you understand the meaning of the results. In my personal experience, he really does seem to care and wants to get to the bottom of things. Expect your appointment to be quick and efficient. He will even book your follow up appointment right there in the room (he has even squeezed me in over his lunch break as I had a flight to catch). If you are the kind of patient who needs to spend an hour in the Doctor's office with a lot of hand holding or someone who thinks the entire responsibility of getting better should be placed on the professional and not on yourself then perhaps there is a better doctor out there suited to your needs.

Dr. Tenenbaum is a very thorough and competent doctor. He was honest and frank about the information he provided to me and I appreciate it because I fully understand my health issue as a result. Rheumatologists deal with many issues but all of them respond to the basics which include 1. Exercise and possible physiotherapy 2. Weight maintenance and possible weight loss 3. Proper nutrition 4. Sufficient rest. 5. Medication only if required. The truth is , if 1 through 4 is practiced, medication probably won't be necessary. Following tests and diagnosis it is up to me, the patient, to take an active role in supporting my health. My condition had never been diagnosed until I saw Dr. Tenenbaum and because of his diligence I can fully apply the measures required for best results. There is no telling what nature may bring at a future time but I'll always benefit from the effort that I put into this and having a doctor like Dr. Tenenbaum.

Dr Tenenbaum is excellent and thorough if you are prepared for the appointment. It is your responsibility to ask questions and understand your own health concerns in order to make the doctor aware of all issues relating to your treatment. Often there is trial and error involved in finding the right meds and in regards to autoimmune diseases a solution can be hard to find. I am well cared for, but care for myself in between appointments by being active and eating well. My meds work well and I've improved vastly since seeing Dr Tenenbaum and I have recommended him to my friends and family.

Dr. Tenenbaum is a very dedicated medical specialist who is a true detective. I have had health issues for many years and it was Dr. Tenenbaum who discovered them and I'm very grateful. He is a candid gentleman who tells you what you must know to resolve or improve health issues. A great doctor.

Awesome man, put me at ease right away, had me laughing out loud on a couple of times and even quoted a Bob Dylan song! After I described my symptoms to him, he told me exactly what I had, explained it in non-medical terms for me and then pulled down one of his big reference books to review the actual description with me. He even booked his own follow up appointment! I feel as though he cares which is more than I can say about other doctors to whom I've been. :)
