I have used Dr. Finlayson for years. I find his practice now is nearly impossible to get into. I called a few weeks ago and wanted to see him. They told me he won't see me without a referral. That aggravates me, a good patient who has had him do major surgery on me and now he wants a referral. You have to wait weeks to get into him and plus his office is huge and so noise and out of control. I am searching for a new ENT sadly enough

I have seen Dr. Finlayson off and on over 16 years. He has performed 3 nasal surgeries on me, and countless office visits. I trusted him to have the skill to fix my problem, and he is such a nice guy I kept going back. Come to find out, his surgeries were incomplete and not well done. I would go for months with sinus problems and his only advice was to use the steroid nasal spray of the day. I finally (took me long enough) clued into the fact that his knowledge and routine is perfunctory and he isn't really helping me. I started seeing a new ENT who did a CT scan, showed me the things Dr. Finlayson had left in there, and now I will have to have yet another surgery. Time for him to retire, in my opinion. Oh, and mentioning his name to other professionals did not boost my confidence in his skills. They would cringe and advise me to steer clear. Good advice.

I saw this doctor yesterday for a 2nd opinion due to experiencing ongoing post op complications after having sinus, septoplasty, turbinate reduction, perilymphatic ear fistula surgery that was done in UT county. This doctor was no help,he kept saying "he didnt know" to most of my questions, and said my ENT surgeons did surgical procedures he wasnt familiar with.He came across to me as needing to retire,he only knows basic ENT stuff and does basic ENT surgeries because he hasnt kept up with ENT surgeries that are offered today. He doesnt do any ear surgeries at all,he suggested I see a ear specialist at the UofU for my ear problems.Yet he is an ENT??He quickly looked up my nose and said its fine and that I need an unknown amount of time to heal(I'm 3mths post op).He looked at my sinus CT(ordered by my surgeons)he wouldnt explain it to me.He said he normally doesnt do post op CT's coz its a waste of time.He wouldnt look at my allergy test results because its not "not his field of knowledge"

This Doctor is the very best ENT I have ever seen, he takes time with you and makes you feel confortable and you understand everything he is telling you. His expertise in his field is so reasurring. This doctor has the best bed side manner I have ever seen. I wish I would have found him along time ago. He has resolved all my problems with my ENT issues. Go see him if you are tired of trying to find a good ENT. I had surgery Oct 18 2012 and I feel great today. I had turbinate reduction and rhinoplasty done.

I went to this doctor after dealing with Dr. Riddle down in Provo. This doctor has a good bedside manner but doesn't waste time. We got to the root of the problem and solved it after three appointments. If you are in process of considering a second opinion or surgery has come up at all, this is the one to go see. I was very pleased with my experience. He was knowledgeable and was surprisingly expert at his job. I have used the word expert in very few instances though I have dealt with many doctors.

My wife and I have both had surgeries from Dr. Finlayson in the past year and he is an incredible doctor. Not only is he very knowledgeable, but he takes the time to figure out exactly what is wrong instead of just throwing medications at it and hoping something works. He has a great bedside manner and takes time to answer questions and explain things. We both have complete trust in him and would recommend him to anyone. It's rare these days to find a doctor like him. We are so lucky we did.

My husband had been having headaches, went to the ER, other ENT's and a neurologist - then we found Dr. Finlayson - he correctly diagnosed him, got him in for surgery and fixed the problem - no more headaches. Couple months later we took my daughter as she was having ear infections - he did surgery - so far so good. Fantastic staff, incredible doctor - caring and knowledgeable.
