I saw Dr. Boyd today. I had pushed some wax deep into my ear and asked him what to do. He told me my ear was imflammed and needed a steroid and anti-inflammatory drops. I went to the Walmart Pharmacy and they issued me a $43 prescription for Ciprodex. The instructions said to put 5 drops into my left eye twice a day. I was quite concerned that it said to put the drops in my eye. The doctor had told me to just go and fill out the prescription and do what they said. Instead I went back to the doctor concerned about putting the drops into my eye. The office lady told me she knew about this medication and that it should say EAR not EYE. Subsequently I went back to the Pharmacist and she told me that the word processing program had typed in EYE instead of EAR but that she had not caught it. Could have been a disaster. So I saw the doctor and he put the drops in my ear. After 4 or 5 hours it appeared that nothing was really happening. I went to another doctor and he said that not only was there no inflammation but that both ears just had some normal wax on them and that I just needed regular olive oil to clear and clean the ear drums. The second doctor repeated that not only is there NO NEED for an antiimflammatory medication or cortizone but that this medication would have no effect whatsoever on clearing the wax from my ears. I would be the same and nothing was treated. he told me to just go and purchase for $7.95 Cerumol or simple olive oil. After the first treatment in a few hours the problem was resolved! Dr. Boyd totally misdiagnosed and did NOT treat my disorder. How did he miss such and obvious medical problem? I dont know but thank God I visited another doctor and received proper help.
