It has taken me a long time to write this and it took me seeing a new rheumatologist to realize there was another way. I saw Dr Thorne for many years to manage my RA. He put me on methotrexate which made me feel awful - I would feel tired and miserable for 3 sometimes 4 days after each injection. He told me to take the folic acid which I was, then B12 but I still kept feeling awful. Despite me telling him about this, he kept insisting I take it, told me "everyone with RA is on methotrexate". His nurses kept telling me to keep taking it as well and I felt hopeless. Thankfully, I was transferred to another young rheumatologist when Dr Thorne retired. They understood me and worked with me. I was switched to another medication and I feel amazing, no more nausea and low energy. I really wish I hadn't lost all those years feeling like crap while under Dr Thorne's care. I also agree with the other reviews, his wait times were awful, usually 3-4hours in the waiting room!!

Dr. Thorne diagnosed my RA in 2014 and was able to determine a course of treatment to the point I am in remission for the most part. It is not gone of course but managed.
Initially it was masking as something else but with his experience and knowledge he narrowed it down. He is direct and that's what I want - no BS.
If you had to wait a little it was because he spent the time with each patient - not just "your 15 minutes are up - move on". I am very fortunate to be in one of his clinical studies to still see him. Thank you, Dr. Thorne.

I have been seeing Dr Thorne since July 1981. I was on the waiting list for his new office. I was diagnosed with Lupus within a couple of months. I was a scared 18 year old teenager. I don't know what I would have done without him. Dr Thorne is my rock. My sister and cousin are also patients of his (well before his partial retired).

I was sent to see Dr Thorne after many hospital visits and a number of doctors. During my visit with him he took his time to ensure that there was nothing missed, he did a number of different test and after two months in his care I received my diagnosis. Since I now see him on a regular basis and I have the quality of life back. I am not in pain anymore and am able to enjoy being a new mom. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a patient of his and all that he has done for me and my family. He always takes the time to listen to me and never makes me feel rushed, he has changed my life.

I can not understand the poor reviews, I was seen the minute I walked in the door. The entire appointment was one and a half hours and incredibly thorough. I had blood work, questionaires, physical testing and follow up interviews, the staff and Dr. Thorne explained everything they were doing and gave me the readily available results with a promise to call me with any abnormal results from the bloodwork. Could not have been more pleased.

The wait time WITH AN APPOINTMENT, is absolutely horrible!!! It has NEVER been less than an hour and up to 2 1/2 hours - apparently my time is not as valuable as his is.

Never use this Doctor so arrogant. Totally verabally abusive to my high school daughter years ago as her arthritis got progressively worse he blamed her! Made her cry. She was in so much pain.

I will never go back to this man again. After waiting an hour to see him he finally graced me with his presence. He wouldn't listen to anything I had to say as far as trying to discuss multiple symptoms and problems I was having. When he asked me a question I started to answer and he snapped at me saying "thats not what I asked you answer me specifically" he had me do bloodwork prior to my visit and he never even mentioned tests results to me. I told him I had some issues walking around the block with my daughter and husband and that my feet swell when I grocery shop. He ended our visit telling me that what I was dealing with was not uncommon for women my age (I am 42) and I was carrying quite a bit of weight ( unexplained weight gain was one of my complaints) imagine my surprised when I received his notes on my appointment. That walk with my daughter I mentioned to him became "she has trouble walking her dog around the block) I DON'T OWN A DOG! then that I have no trouble grocery shopping...which I did tell him my feet swell and turn red. Then he said Inhad no other complaints as far as upper GI etc...I HAD A WHOLE LIST that he wouldn't even look at. The list for this man is endless I just thank God that I have a fabulous family doctor who is running more tests and explained all my results to me.

Dr Thorne is an amazing person. His bedside manner and knowledge are fathomless. I was one of the lucky ones who was sent to Dr Thorne early in my RA diagnosis. Because if his knowledge and expertise I have been pain free for years. Thank you so much Dr. Thorne.

I have been a patient of Dr. Thorne’s for 25 years. Since being diagnosed with RA 30 years ago, I have seen my fair share of flare ups and chronic pain. I have also been seen by other rheumatologists and I can honestly say that Dr. Thorne was by far the most knowledgeable, kindest and compassionate doctor I have ever had. His expertise in rheumatology helped put me in remission and I have been able to lead a fairly normal life over the past ten years. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Thorne. He truly made a difference in my treatment approach and for that I am eternally grateful. I am sorry he has retired. His replacement will have some very big shoes to fill. Happy Retirement Dr. Thorne. You deserve it!
