My first experience with Dr.Black was 7 years ago when he delivered my 2nd child. I had a planned C-section and Dr.Black had a student with him for the procedure (I did not give consent to the student doing the procedure). The student did the cutting and I ended with a serious infection and needed plastic surgery to fix the incision area. My next experience was a few months ago when I got sent to see him from my family Dr. Dr. Black was to insert an IUD. He did not have a nurse present or ask me if I wanted anyone else present. He attempted to do the procedure but said the cervix was not opening so he would have to do it manually. After trying to do that (Extreme pain), the procedure was not a success, he did not do the insertion. I was left in a lot of pain. I left his office very shaken and pulled the vehicle over and cried. The procedure was not handled well and I felt very violated. I will never go back.

I went to see Dr. Black when I found out I was pregnant with twins. From my first appt. in November 2010 to March 2011 (when I stopped seeing him), I had once seen him TWICE. Once on my second appointment, and once as I passed him in the hall. All of my appointments were run by his horrible purple nurse instead. She was very pushy and never listened to anything that we said. I don't think that a doctor should take on more patients than he is able to see. It was a very impersonal and horrible experience. When I go to see my doctor, I would like to see a doctor, not a nurse. I find it very unprofessional to delegate this much of his workload. Dr. Black seemed like a very nice man, but as he was not the one seeing to his patient, I would never go back there again.

Dr. Black practices proper evidence-based medicine, but did not get to know me and I had little voice in my treatment. At the Riverside fibroid and abnormal uterine bleeding clinics, I was offered a full range of options and able to choose one that fit my needs the best. While I think Dr. Black's treatment might have worked well for an "average" patient - it left me with years of suffering that could have been avoided with earlier minimally-invasive surgical treatment. My entry is intended to help other women who might need a wider range of options to meet their particular needs.

I actually do not go to this doctor any longer. For a few years in the past, he was just looking at the ultrasound results withoout actually examining me as a gynecologist should do though I had complaints regarding some other symptoms that could not be explained by the ultrasound tests. Just paper work... When I asked for the PAP test, he sent me back to my family doctor. You cannot be sure that you are not at risk as there is no examining of a patient as such. I do not think he is a doctor you can rely on.

I had my first baby with Dr D Black and I hate Drs. But he listened to everything I asked, was super smart so friendly. The only bad part was his practice was shared with a number of other Drs (and you are told this when you take him on) so you don't ALWAYS get Dr. Black. But the other doctors were amazing (except 1, he was kind of rude). He was so friendly and always smiling and seemed happy to see you. When I gave birth he didn't come in until after 2 hrs of pushing (was a busy night in the delivery ward) and He worked with precision using forceps to bring out my stubborn baby. It was so fast. Baby was out and handed off and Dr Black quickly stitched me up. I didn't even notice the 4 student drs watching. At the follow up he had lots of advice and was super friendly. I WISH I could have him for our second, but we're halfway across the country. GREAT Dr.!

From reading below, it looks like Dr Black is great at delivering babies, but in the gyne area, he lacks knowledge. I went to see him and he had very little time for me and then after he saw the ultrasound he rushed in and said let's do a abdominal hysterectomy. I also needed other pelvic repair surgeries and he said they would resolve themselves. After reorganizing my life to have the surgery done, he cancelled 2 days before. Then he told me after the cancellation that the reason he didn't want to fix the prolapses was because "he hasn't had much success with them". His staff are very rude, never call back, impossible to book surgery dates with and when I wanted more info about what to expect from my surgery, there was nothing provided. He just told me I should be able to go back to my physically active job after 4 weeks. I have since had a vaginal hsyterectomy, prolapse repair and a TVT with Dr Schacter and she was awesome!! 8 weeks and I can now go back to living!

Dr. Black is a very nice, but a very busy man. I was disappointed that I did not get to see him for the last few months of my pregnancy - I only saw his nurse when I went to the clinic. I ended up having complications in the end and I wonder if things may have gone in a different direction if I was followed more closely. I plan to switch MD's for my next pregnancy - I'll be looking for a more conservative doctor where I get to see him/her the majority of the time as opposed to the nurse. I did deliver at the General (Dr. Singh) and it was a great experience - I'll definitely head in that direction again.

Dr. Black has cause me pain on the occasions I've seen him. Either I'm unlucky on every account or his promises of "this won't hurt but just cause a little discomfort" are not based on reality. I was pleased that he did refer me to a second gynecologist for a second opinion. I wouldn't go back to Dr. Black. He couldn't help me.

Dr. Black is kind, efficient, and very helpful. The ER referred me to him after I had a miscarriage and he saw me almost right away and made the sonographer squeeze me in for an ultrasound right after my appointment with him. After the ultrasound, he came to discuss the results with me and gave me a requisition for an early ultrasound for the next time I get pregnant. He did a great job of making my husband and I feel optimistic about the future and took the time to listen to and answer all of our questions. He has a great attitude and you can tell he cares about his patients. I'm looking forward to seeing him again next time I get pregnant.
