Dr. Paty is extremely knowledgeable and professional, but above all, he is kind. I have type 1 diabetes and have been seeing him for at least 10 years. My adult son is also type 1, and I'll never forget going with him for his first appointment with Dr. Paty after his diagnosis at age 30. Dr. Paty's presence was so calm and reassuring. The way he showed my son how to do his first insulin injection made it seem easy and natural. I'm always worried that I'm not controlling my blood sugar and my diet well enough, but Dr. Paty assures me that I'm doing great. He is consistently nonjudgmental, which allows me to share what's really going on with my self-care. He listens and gives me all the time I need to discuss my concerns. I am easily intimidated by doctors, especially specialists, but I always leave Dr. Paty's office feeling respected, informed and well cared for.

I was under the care of dr.paty for almost a year, and over this time, I never felt well attended, and never felt that he even cared enough about me as a patient. He only visited me in the office once, and even that one time, it was not even him directly, but his resident. All my appointments were over the phone during the past year, and not even a single office visit. Our phone calls were merely just 5 minutes and sometimes even less. I never felt dr.paty is truly listening to my concerns and the questions I raised. His answer always to my questions were I do not know or I cannot fully explain. I understand that it is okay not to always know the answer, specially that I found my case a bit unusual, however, I even never felt a curiousity in him to go above and beyond what was required. I found him very dismissive of my symptoms and also very forgetful. Although, my blood tests were in normal range, I had wide variety of symptoms for which I went under different examinations with other doctors and all showing nothing. Just recently I found out this all has been the side effect of my thyroid medication. My body has been very sensitive. Interestingly, in one of our appointments during last xmas, I even asked him if there is a difference between brand and generic medication, and as always he said I dont know and mostly people are stable. I asked him to put me on brand and he did, However, my next prescription, he again prescribed me with generic ones, and I had like 3 horrible months of upset stomach, and so many different side effects. I again reminded him and asked him t o put me on brand. I noticed improvement in my symptoms, however, they were still there, and I realized all this time I just have been very sensitive to medication. He never even recommended any thing else like supplements, or other things that could help me. I was complaining of my vision alot, and he only referred to me to an eye specialist after I was hospitalized and by chance he was my on call doctor, and for that I had to ask him. He did not do it independently. This is while when I asked other endos and explained my vision problems, they said it is important that you be under the care of an eye doctor since the beginning. As a researcher, I analyzed myself alot and came up with so many questions, however, always, the answer to my questions were ' I dont know". Even, one time when I asked dr.paty about side effects of my medication, which is in his speciality, he had to google online! My partner was with me that day, and we both were quite surprised. My last appointment with him was such a disappointment, I had confused the scheduled appointment, which was supposed to be oct 2nd, but I thought it was oct 9. And I had not even take a new blood test. I just received an email from his assistant that he checked my blood test and it was normal and next appointment for another month. I was shocked! I have not even taken a new blood test yet. I was very disappointed and felt so ignored as a patient again. I would like to say this was my personal experience with him and this may not happen to someone else. I was happy to get him as my endo based on the reviews I read here. However, this was not the case for me! The good thing about dr.paty is that he is humble and his assistant Amanda is also kind and responsive.

Dr. Paty is busy however, he does take the time to listen and explain. I went in for my parent's condition and he was very empathetic/sympathetic and thoroughly explained what she 'needed' to hear mixed in with what she 'wanted' to hear (she can be a bit stubborn due to the condition which doesn't help as the body doesn't allow to do what should be done). Since his visit her weight has gone up slightly, she is more alert and she makes a valiant effort.

I had an appt with Dr Paty recently due to a new medical condition, I had a LOT of questions about it and he took the time to sit with me and answer all of them. My doctor is currently on mat leave and he said he would follow my condition until she gets back so that I have quality care. I really appreciate him fitting me in and giving me the time and attention I needed.

To all my patients,

I appreciate all your feedback. I take it to heart and will try to do better in the future. I have instituted an anonymous satisfaction survey in my office, so I can learn what I can do better (or what I might be doing well already). Thank you for your comments and I appreciate your understanding.

Breay Paty

P.S. I only filled in the stars because it's required.
