Dr. Dushinski performed laparoscopic surgery on my kidney this year. No, his administrative staff are not that pleasant, but that’s par for the course in Calgary. And at the end of the day, it’s the doctor that matters, and Dr. Dushinski was wonderful. He visited me twice while I was recovering in hospital, which was very nice of him. He is not a talkative guy, but he patiently answered all of my many crazy questions at the follow up. As a young female patient, I don’t always feel comfortable being treated by males - especially when it comes to sensitive stuff - but I found Dr. Dushinski’s calm, compassionate demeanour to be very reassuring through an extremely stressful time.

I was referred to this doctor and the first thing I noticed the moment I interacted with this office was the unshakable coldness from his reception staff. I understand we are going through a pandemic but that is no excuse for being miserable, especially when you have patients who are worried and concerned for their health. Rest assured, its a them problem. You will also notice this demeanor through the phone very clearly. Additionally, Dushinski simply put, does not appear to care. I'm sure he did when he first stepped foot into his field, but I can tell you for sure that he just wants you in and out and very quickly displays an irritated tone which overall does not help the patient feel safe and comfortable. We're talking urology here!

If these issues are a result of his practice being so busy in addition to this pandemic, which I can absolutely empathize with, I would still absolutely encourage a TLC revamp and a set of new staff that haven't become so numb to humanity. This is my experience and I sincerely hope others do not have the same with his office; however, always do your research on doctors where you see fit. I also see google reviews that have indicated very similar experiences to mine that were posted some time ago. Hopefully they can take the criticism constructively otherwise I'm not too sure how much longer this practice will remain in good standing.

Reading through the ratings prior to my visit - I was prepared for the worst!

Actually found the Good Doctor to be be attentive, patient, professional and engaging. Must assume that some of the one stars below were the result of someone having a bad day. Rod M

The receptionist is rude and Dr. Dushinski is arrogant. He use to be better in his earlier days but he seems to not care like he use to.

Where do I begin. I ripped my kidney and I was shocked to see how I was treated at Rockyview Hospital by him. He didn’t want to write a discharge summary was simply too lazy to and I was travelling from Ontario. And get this I was only informed the morning of my hospital discharge by the nurse and she was so embarrassed b/c it’s poor behaviour for any doctor to have such arrogance to do their job and not draft a discharge summary..

My treatment only got worse because when I arrived home I was told by the nurses that I would need to rest and feel better in a month but my situation only got worse. I was feeling so sick I had to call an ambulance to take me to the ER 5-7 days after coming home. I went to the hospital in Ontario to find that I had a 10cm hematoma (blood clot) that was infected. His negligence and lack of professionalism lead to my health worsening. The doctors were extremely baffled by the fact that I wasn’t told what to do for treatment post surgery. But my concerns were brushed off w here are some pain killers and rest up when you get back home.

I am now facing several consequences from his negligence. Another doctor mentioned I could’ve easily died if that hematoma had travelled to my heart or anywhere else. Having a licence to practice medicine is a duty of honour and high responsibility. I did not feel he upheld his duty while I was under his care.

The support staff was great and I owe it to them to somehow find my way from the hospital to the airport. You know it’s a problem when you are admitted to a hospital and the doctor says to you “we only have the trailer to a movie we haven’t seen that we are trying to piece together”. Just mind blowing to me that I am left w a note w his number so that my doctor can text him. I visited 3 hospitals. I’m sure if you had a small ounce of care to do your job, you could’ve come up w some notes.

When the surgeon texted Dr. Dushinski w a photo of my CT scan with 10 cm hematoma, all he had to say was “things have progressed”.

In addition, when I was on my way to get my surgery and waiting to get sleepy from the anesthesia, he asked me what his name was and I mispronounced his name saying Zushinski and he replied back w the most rigid attitude correcting me. I for one don’t have a simple name so I get it but really before I go into my surgery? And then the nurses were comforting me saying they’ll be right by my side and he rudely replied w “ I don’t have all day I do have to go home for dinner”...

Being a doctor comes with responsibility and I did not feel like Dr. Dushinski upheld any standards of being a doctor let alone a decent one.

dr duschinsky is probably the worst doctor I've ever met. Waited for months to see him and when I finally did he was very late for my appointment and was immediately dismissive and treated me like i was wasting his time. His only solution for my groin pain was to chop my balls off and even then he said it might not work. 5 months of waiting for less than 5min of his time and literal shrug. Just retire dude you are obviously burnt out and useless.
