I have been seeing Dr Fong for a few years. He performed a tonsillectomy on me as I was getting chronic strep infections. He was wonderful!!! He now sees me for ear issues and treats me like gold every visit. He takes the time to talk to me about life, concerns I am having and any questions. He is always smiling and wonderful, his receptionist is fantastic as well!!! Thanks Dr Fong, I am so thankful to be a patient of yours!!!

I was very confused about how to find the office as there is poor signage
The secretary was rude about me being late because of that and the others laughed at me
I was mortified to see the lack of professionalism and confidentiality both while waiting to be seen and while in the examination room.
The secretary came in twice to get charts. Charts should not be displayed in the examination rooms nor in the hallways for public view. Isn’t there a privacy act in this office?
Just totally disrespectful and disgusting
No professionalism
They are all rude
What happened to our good health care?

I went with my mother to see Dr Fong for a throat issue. Getting her appointment set up was rather difficult due to the fact that voicemails are ignored and the secretary abruptly stated “we don’t do voicemails or emails “ when I confronted her about it

During the office visit I was horrified to see office files in the examination room and in the hallway. There is obviously no consideration for confidentiality
The who office is very unprofessional and even sitting in the waiting room you hear everything about how the staff don’t want to be there and there’s some screaming in the back office.

I am going to seek a second opinion elsewhere at a more appropriate and professional office. My mother does not deserve this kind of place
~Very sad

Dr Fong is a wonderful doctor who knows his field of work. I had a polyp on my uvula, which he removed in ambulatory clinic, had it biopsy ( benign) and did great follow up, and then another one 1 year later to make sure nothing reoccurred. During his exam he noticed I had large tonsils and narrowed airways ( not due to weight) and even though I didn’t snore had me tested for sleep apnea. Lo and behold I did have it, to point my oxygen levels dropped to dangerous level of 61% while asleep. Thank you Dr Fong.

He is not polite and does not like to answer questions and he is not ethically a good doctor. We are unfortunate that we are trapped in PEI and have one option.

I was referred to Dr. Fong after a thyroid ultrasound indicated that I had a suspicious thyroid nodule. My thyroid has been monitored with yearly ultrasounds in Ontario for the past number of years. Two GP's felt that the nodule was suspicious enough to warrant a fine needle aspiration/biopsy. During my appointment, not only did Dr. Fong dismiss my concerns in a condescending way, he made very brief eye contact with me, yet spoke directly to my husband about the course of treatment (yearly visits) rather than me, the patient. He refused to consider a FNA because of the size of the suspicious nodule and said that he would not be requesting any more ultrasounds on my behalf as it was a "waste of tax payers dollars." When I protested, he told me to refer to the American Thyroid Association website to corroborate his opinion. So, I did just that using the American Thyroid Association website and they state that "thyroid nodules that are benign by FNA or too small to biopsy should still be watched closely with ultrasound examination every 6 to 12 months..." Clearly, Dr. Fong subscribes to a medical ideology of reactive rather than proactive care. If you have an option to seek other care, do so.

I went to Dr. Fong with a chronic throat clearing issue. After some chest X-rays and breathing tests, everything looked clear. He put me on an anti-acid to correct, what he believed, was an acid reflux problem. I was on the medication for 4 months, but the condition was not improving at all. It had been over a year of chronic throat clearing, and it was deeply impacting my life. I returned to Dr. Fong and re-explained my symptoms, that it felt like it was only on one side of my throat and I had pressure in my ear. I pitched other possibilities, having done my research. He did not want to hear it. He spoke down to me and gave me a mini lecture on how I should stop drinking coffee and sleep with my head propped up. For him, acid reflux was the only possibility. When I asked for a referral for a second opinion, he did not seemed pleased. I later learned the wait for the Dr he referred me to in Halifax was 3 years! The office did not notify me about that. Finally I took matters into my own hands. Believing it was a sinus issue based on my research, I went to a dental surgeon and paid $300 for an X-ray of my sinuses. The surgeon discovered I have a deviated septum and a completely blocked sinus. It made all the sense in the world, and honoured the symptoms I've been having for over a year. I was not crazy after all. The surgeon was kind and listened. Best $300 I ever spent! I'm now flying to Toronto to hopefully see an ENT there and have it surgically drained and discuss a septoplasty. Dr. Fong did not listen to me or do his due diligence as a specialist. And it deeply impacted my physical and mental well being. I do not recommend him.
