Best doctor I have ever seen! I understand that he can’t operate due to physical ailment but he is very knowledgeable, caring and actually listens to people

Never. Ever. Ever. Again.

The personality and bedside manner of a stick!

Felt WORSE after seeing him, then I did prior to going in. A change in doctors fixed the problem - and I felt I was finally in good hands.

I was "seen' by this doctor for several years and never physically examined in any way. He would simply read back my PSA # while typing a positive report to my GP and telling me to come back in six months. Toward the end I was complaining about leakage and difficulty emptying my bladder. Still he did not examine me physically or offer any solutions, leaving me with an impression that he wasn't even listening to issues.
During my GP's reading of regular blood work he noticed that it indicated that my "kidneys were failing". Sent to the hospital immediately, it was determined that I was retaining close to 3 liters of urine after urination.
After a scoped bladder examination by Dr. L., he casually advised me that my bladder could never return normal size so I would be on a catheter for the rest of my life. I have, in fact, had to use a daily catheter for the few years ever since.
Out of concern for possible reprisal, I have only now in conscience decided that I should write of my experience to possibly warn others to avoid this hands-off practitioner.

He did a fine job on my prostate, but is totally incompetent when it comes to phimosis. I have suffered for two years because of him.

I’ve had several meetings with Dr. Leal and my experience has been exceptional. His staff, referrals, knowledge, understanding my worries, follow-up, as well as his listening ear, leave me feeling that I have received up-to-date superior healthcare.

Had 2 DVIU procedures with Dr. Leal both on an emergency basis. He was very accommodating, made me feel comfortable and explained everything very well. They were very hard procedures to go through but he made a very tough situation easier. Would recommend him.

My sister had Dr. Leal for her kidney stones so, I was referred to him. However he is not operating and instead of sending me to another local urologist he was sending me to Ottawa for the shockwave treatment(which isn’t normally successful for large stones 1.2cm). I went back to hospital because my symptoms were still awful and went to Dr. Guan, he had my stone out in a week. I wonder if I would still be waiting if I stayed with Dr. Leal. Patients should know that he isn’t operating before being referred to him and he should send people to another local urologist.

Honestly, the guy himself seems alright. His practice is a mess, though.

I was referred to him over two years ago. No communication at all. I left three voicemail messages saying I was getting frustrated and I just wanted an ETA. I am now seeking a different urologist.

Person on the phone was a bit rude, too. They interrupted me several times, and I wasn't droning on and on or anything. She didn't have the patience to sit through a single one of my sentences, sighed when I spelled my name for her (because it has an uncommon spelling), and generally treated me like I was a nuisance.

I am incredibly unimpressed, and annoyed. It's actually been nearly three years since I first got my referral, just shy by a couple months. The thing I'm waiting for is a vasectomy, so I understand that it's not life-threatening but it shouldn't have to be to actually receive some care.
