Like many describe, Dr. Withers is very straight to the point and efficient with her time. While that is the case, she sacrifices empathy, compassion, and thoroughness. She will not bat an eyelash at your emotions and frustrations and will speak to you very condescendingly if you express hesitancy against her recommendations. There is no doubt that she is knowledgeable in her profession, however she refuses to listen to details and history you describe that cannot be immediately seen, and prescribes treatment based only on what she sees. If you like punctuality and efficiency, Dr. Withers is your doctor. If you're expecting a doctor who is patient, listens, and empathetic, you're better off looking for another derm.

When my GP first referred me to Dr. Withers, I looked her up online, primarily to see where she is located (turns out she's five blocks from my house!) However, I started reading the reviews left on this site and I started to panic. There are so many negative reviews! So, I mentioned this to my gp and told her I didn't feel comfortable seeing Dr. Withers. I am SO thankful she convinced me otherwise. Dr. Withers is amazing. I don't understand all the negative reviews. First, her MOA is delightful. Second, I was taken into an exam room within minutes of arriving. Third, her intern, Lisa came into the room within two minutes. Examined the issue and went to get Dr. Withers. Fourth, Dr. Withers is delightful. Incredibly knowledgeable, easy to speak with, great sense of humour and super efficient. She clearly explained my options and I chose to go with a biopsy. Little did I know this was going to happen right then. She numbed the area and supervised while Lisa the Intern performed the biopsy. The entire time, Dr. Withers provided a commentary on what was happening (I couldn't watch 😬). She explained next steps, aftercare of the biopsy sight, and said she would call me with the results. From the time I arrived until I was heading back home, less than 20 minutes had passed. I can stress enough how impressed I was and how relaxed and comfortable she (and Lisa) made me feel, especially considering I was not expecting to have a lump sliced off my hand today! If I could give 6 🌟 I would.

I took my mom after waiting two months to get checked for a skin concern and when we got there we met Dr withers for literally two minutes and told us aside from a cream theres nothing she can do. My mom also wanted to bring up another concern but she brushed it off and within two minutes she had already left the room. Never told us to rebook an appointment for a follow up. Will be booking with another doctor to seek a second opinion. I would have appreciated it if she allowed us to at least fully express our concern but it felt dismissive and she had more important things to do. We waited two months for a two minute appointment.

Best dermatologist I have had over a number of years. Others I have tried due to closer proximity or have retired we’re not as good. Her efficient manner tells me she respects my time as much as hers. She is definitely my doctor of choice

I waited more than 3 months for this appointment. When I first arrived at my appointment the receptionist was very rude, not even locking up as I greeted her. She unkindly told me to wait so I did. Then she proceeded to try and get my attention after she was finished whatever task she was doing, by going “Helllooooooooo??” until i realized she was talking to me. Very unprofessional behavior. When I finally got into the office, I pulled out progress photos of my increasingly worsening skin (month by month), but this doctor immediately shut me down and told me she did not need to see the photos. I told her that two other doctors had previously told me I have one specific skin condition, and that they had prescribed me medication and skin treatment that had worked perfectly and my skin issues went away. I was at this office because my skin had got bad again, and I was looking for the same prescription that I had previously gotten because it worked. However, the doctor was extremely flippant and clearly did not care what I had to say. The entire appointment was very rushed, and she made me feel like I was wasting her time for even trying to bring up my previous diagnosis/ treatments (ones that had worked). She dismissed everything that I told her, telling me in an insulting tone that “I’m a dermotologist. Are you going to listen to them (other doctors) or to me?” when I tried to tell her how my symptoms did not line up with what she diagnosed me with. I also told her that I did not currently have an extreme flareup, so there was not a lot of identifiable issues on my skin, and she seemed very disinterested and as if she did not believe me when I told her I had other issues that simply were not present at that moment. She ended up prescribing me a regular acne treatment (even though I know I do not have acne), ignoring all of the information that I told her about how previous treatments had worked. And, unsurprisingly, a month and a half later the treatment still has not worked at all. overall this entire experience made me feel dumb for even coming into the appointment at all, and extremely frustrated because I was not listened to. I feel sorry for everyone else who was also treated in this manner by her.

I left the office and cried in my car after my appointment with this doctor. The complete lack of any kind of sympathy for my skin condition, the way she asked me questions (I felt like I was being cross examined in a witness stand), and the way I was dismissed left me feeling as if I had completely and utterly wasted her precious time. It upset me so much that I broke down in my car afterwards. The ego, arrogance and way she handled the appointment led me to find out on here if there were other poor patients with a similar story after seeing her.

I had a horrible experience with this Dr. She is not professional and has a poor chair side manner. She is not empathic and doesn't have any qualities a Dr should have. Her ego is off the roof and felt like she was in a rush the whole time. Horrible Dr, avoid if possible.

She needs to understand ego. Her’s most importantly. She is arrogant , talks over you and frankly had zero empathy ..I too am a very successful strong woman , but I also understand the importance of positively, the art of listening and being kind.. kindness costs nothing

I visited Dr. Withers awhile ago and had a really inappropriate and unprofessional experience. I had a very persistant cyst in my genital region and was referred to her by my family doctor as she said that Dr. Withers was a dermatologist able to help with things specifically around the genitals. I was 19 or 20 years old at the time. During my appointment, Dr. Withers told me to pull down my pants and underwear so she could examine my cyst, but didn’t allow me my privacy, and stayed in the room and sat across from me and watched and waited while I pulled down down my pants and underwear. I felt extremely uncomfortable at this point. I’ve always been given my right to privacy in any medical appointment where I’ve had to remove my clothing, especially pants and underwear - and these other professionals have always left the room to let me do so and have provided me with a sheet to cover up for when they returned. Next issue: My family doctor said I could also talk to Dr. Withers about any other acne concerns I had if I wished, so after the cyst examination, I explained to her that I have struggled with acne on my chest for a long time. Dr. Withers proceeded to scoot over to me on her roller chair and decided to physically pull my shirt down from the collar to look at my chest herself, practically exposing my breasts as I did not have a bra on. I don’t understand how she ever thought watching me while I removed my clothing and also physically pulling down my shirt herself was okay, ethical, or professional. I was very emotionally disturbed by what happened and it still bothers me to this day. I would never recommend seeing her.
