Good riddance. He's retired now. Very poor bedside manners. I last went to see him regarding a bump on my chin that often bled. When I asked what it was, he pointed to the wall paper and exclaimed "That's like asking what's that dot on the wall! It could be anything!" 🙄

I just have to say that I did not share the same experience that many of you have expressed. I had a very pleasant and informative experience. I had seen many doctors claiming I had a Staph infection for one month straight who pumped me full of antibiotics and shot my immune system prior to seeing Dr. Tullis who knew right away that I had something called prurigo nodularis. This condition caused severe itching, bleeding and many sleepless nights. After one day of his prescribed treatment, I was not itching and even slept through the night. I am so grateful that he was able to see me so quickly and had all the knowledge he had to treat me for such terrible condition. I’m so sad to see that he’s retired but hopeful that my next dermatologist will be as knowledgeable as him.

After numerous evaluations of a foot problem, Dr Tullis repeatedly said it was nothing and just use foot balm cream. Went to my GP took a skin sample and sent to lab which confirmed a fungal infection. Second opinion is a good idea. He's retired now, but maybe that's a good thing so people won't be misdiagnosed. I'm put up with this condition for years and having started treatment it's finally getting better!

Never in my life would I go & see this "doctor" again. He does not worth his profession he's in.

I saw Dr. Tullis twice back in 2019, he saw a suspicious mole that appeared skin cancer he did biopsy and it came back as Malignant Melanoma; he referred me to a surgeon who removed the mass, had 1 more surgery! Then in February 2020 I went for a follow up to find I needed another biopsy, it turned out to be another Melanoma, I had further tests at VGH and was referred to Vancouver Cancer Clinic; I had 3rd surgery April 2020.. I am saddened to hear Dr Tullis has retired he and his staff were so very kind and as far as I am concerned he was a Good and knowledgeable Dermatologist in Burnaby and surrounding areas! He treated me with respect and with kindness. He will be missed! Sincerely Judith Scott

If this doctor had a motto it would be, "fake it until you make it". Absolutely unprofessional and useless. Makes you wonder if he even paid attention in med school. Why study in such a specialized field if you do not have passion for it? Gary Tullis is literally a waste of tax payers money. He has racked up all these poor reviews for a reason. If you are referred to this dermatologist, do yourself a favour. Save your precious time and don't bother seeing him. You'd honestly be better off googling your own symptoms than consulting with this 'doctor'. My experience with him was rather frustrating. Failed to diagnose my concerns and gave me bogus information. Basically waited half a year to have Tullis tell me what a google search would tell me. He also has very poor manners and insanely low EQ. Luckily, I went to see another dermatologist and got the help I needed. If I could give this doctor a rating of zero, I honestly would.

I went to Doctor Tullis a couple of years ago for my moderate acne. He was a pretty dismissive and unempathetic dermatologist and he essentially just told me to wait it out. However, he did end up prescribing me Accutane as a last resort as I had tried everything else and did not want to live with acne on my face forever. When I started to have the huge breakout that occurs after about a month of Accutane, I was so discouraged and very depressed. I went to see him for my monthly check-in, and he brought an intern in with him without asking my permission. He then proceeded to get this intern to look at my acne and point out what types of acne were occurring. All the while, I'm just sitting there incredibly embarrassed and uncomfortable about the condition of my skin. I wouldn't even let family members see my bare skin, so needless to say I would incredibly insecure and upset with his lack of communication and professionality.
All in all, he seemed to have a lot of knowledge. However, he just seemed to have a lack of consideration, compassion and genuine passion for what he does.

If I could give him a zero, I would. He prescribed my father three different compounds for his psoriasis, and none of them have worked. And that is OK, because it is all a part of a process to try and determine what works best for his skin, but when the doctor is talking in a rude and sarcastic and demeaning tone to him, then there is a problem. He continually asked my father why he wants to clear up his psoriasis?? Why the f@#k do you think? Obviously, no one wants to deal with ongoing skin problems, and obviously that is why you have a job… he is supposed to be there to help people with their skin issues… So why ask such a stupid question. To top it off, he tried to convince my dad that other patients have skin way worse than himself and that he should just settle with it! What a freaking tool! Avoid this doctor at all costs as it is clear he is not a caring doctor and just trying to push patients out with a prescription. The secretary was nice.
