We are temporary living in Toronto and I lost hearing on my left ear, Iand a colleague of my husband recommended Dr. Hands. His assistance Tina was very nice, she was able to get me to see him the next day. She is very professional and very nice. I had a melt down at the office and she was very kind. I am 40 years old, and after Dr. Hands evaluated my issue, gave me medications and explained everything in details. They called me to follow up and also went to see him for a follow up. I recovered my hearing!! I would definitely recommend Doctor Hands! He knows what he is doing! I am very thankful I went to him and I was able to recover my hearing!

I first saw Dr. Hands at the Albany Clinic in 2002 when, pregnant with my third child, I had an acute ear infection that was made worse by the clinic nurse flushing with water. He didn't have the equipment he needed at the clinic so urged me to see him at his private office, which I did. He vacuumed out the wax built up in my ears, examined the boil he removed, sent me on my way with antibiotics, and followed up, recommending I see him every six months for wax removal. I haven't been back that often but I do go at least every couple of years. He is efficient, kind and humorous. Apparently my father had the same problem with narrow ear canals (so my sisters tell me).

I think in Canada we are inclined to object to a doc who pitches non-OHIP-covered services. Despite reviews here, I saw this doc a few wks ago bc I don't have the luxury of looking for another. I thought it was hilarious that, just as people here described, within a few mins he was starting to pitch his voice svcs. I admit that when I read the reviews here, I was thinking they were all written by the same 2 disgruntled people, but now I'm a believer. However, I didn't find him rude;just had a dry sense of humour & very cut-to-the-chase, which I didn't mind much. He did use that camera thing through my nose, & it felt gross in the short time it lasted, but he wasn't rough. I think this device is going to feel weird no matter what. I did actually have to prompt him to reveal a specific minor med issue I originally suspected, which he confirmed when I asked him, but he seemed more focused on getting me to do speech therapy. I'm actually going to do this therapy after doing more research.

I went for a consultation. This guy is clearly a salesman who would like to profit from your condition (the man looks pretty old--what's the money for, anyway?), and he will inevitably tell you that you need his costly speech therapy. He'll heavily spin the diagnosis in such a way as to recommend the therapy (when he should really be recommending nothing, or something else). On the bright side, the scope doesn't lie, so I was able to use the information he gave me from looking down my throat and talking about the diagnosis. This can be useful. Furthermore: based on his comments, I get the impression he may be reading these reviews and trying to mitigate their effects.

I went in for an initial consultation. Within 10 mins, Dr. Hands seems to know "The Cure" for your problems- don't buy it. My vocal teacher and I agree on this: Dr. Hands runs his clinic like a business. His rolidex of vocal issues is memorized, and he selects the one that you have quickly and easily. This is even the case when you come in with no issue whatsoever- i'm a sing and just wanted someone to take a look. All your problems can be solved by purchasing a number of expensive videostroboscopy sessions and voice therapy lessons, all very conveniently located in-house and performed by is friends/colleagues. The receptionist is very rude as well. When a doctor runs his clinic for the sole purpose of making money, he's in it for the wrong reasons. Shameful malpractice, Dr. Hands. Completely unprofessional and a disgrace on the entire ENT community.

I will never suggest anyone to see Dr. Hands, I went there and in 5 minutes the medical issue was resolved by purchasing his book and his speech therapy which I couldn't/cannot afford either way, because I am a computer support technician, brand new in my job so, not enough, which I told him. Then Dr. asked but you should be OK to pay with Visa, do you have Visa? I do have one but I said No lol This guy practically said he was sorry for me for my medical condition and my lack of money and to come back when I have money to pay for the treatment.

Do NOT use this doctor. He should not be allowed to perform any task where a firm hand is required. He was remvoing wax from my ears, and caused me significant pain in both ears by banging his ear vacuum hard against both ear drums. The hearing in one ear was impacted, and it has never returned to where it was before I saw him. This man appers to be over 70, and I do not think he still has a sensitive enogh touch for inserting instruments into ears, without serious risk of causing damage. He also asks you a question, then tells you what the "correct" answer is before you have a chance to respond. For example, after hurting my ear drums: "Do you feel better now? The correct answer is YES!".

I would never recommend this doctor. I found that he was overly interested in showing off the stars he treated. In my opinion, if you were not a "star" you were at his mercy. His knowledge was not current and because of that, he operated. My singing career came to an end.

Dr. Hands has been the excellent ENT for my child for 10 years. They share a mutual interest in opera and there was an instant rapport between them -- Dr. Hands could make even a very young boy feel welcome and important for the child's hearing and vocal abilities. There is an audiologist on site too. For myself I was able to get excellent custom earplugs as well. We see Dr. Hands often at the opera and he takes a sincere interest in helping singers to vocalize to their maximum capability. If a singer is in a fix with a sudden problem, even at a moment's notice before a performance, Dr. Hands is the go to guy, and that's why all those photos with grateful messages signed are on his wall!
