Dr. Hoy is retired and although he was a great family doctor for decades for our family, this is the only place where I can mention my last interactions with him were difficult due to the poor quality of the walk-in clinic he transferred to.

Long story short, I had iron deficiency anemia and he thought it was due to internal bleeding in the GI tract. He didn't rule out the obvious culprit--my uterus. I was scared and was signed up for four GI diagnostic tests over the course of seven months which all showed nothing wrong. Meanwhile, my iron tanked and I was not given any prescription iron and only showed improvement after receiving an iron transfusion as an emergency ward.

Fast forward a year and I still haven't been adequately treated for fibroids or iron deficiency anemia because his replacement doctor isn't that great. It's disappointing--if he had sent me for a pelvic exam along with the GI stuff, I would have had my problem resolved sooner instead of suffering from low iron and worrying about things that weren't wrong with me.

I have been seeing Dr. Hoy for almost 30 years now. He used to have his own practice but in the fall of 2018 he closed it down and moved to a walk-in clinic. Turns out that was a critical turning point. When he had his own practice, every time I called I was able to get an appointment to see him within a week at the longest. Nowadays, you're looking at least a month unless someone cancels and creates an opening. Mainly because he only works Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Once you get to the clinic on your appointment day, the staff take you in promptly, but then you will more than likely find yourself waiting in the examination room for at least 30 minutes before he comes in.

However, once he comes into the examination room you very quickly realize why you continue to see him. He is an excellent doctor. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Listens to your concerns and takes you seriously. Very good at explaining things to you. Very thorough. Does not rush you through.

For this reason I will continue to see him until he retires and will in fact be a little sad when he does retire. If it's something urgent I can always see one of the walk-in doctors at the same clinic.

Useless takes forever to wait for him but sends you on your way in less than 10 mins
Oh yeah he’s dropped down to 2 days Thursday and Friday so if you need a refill book a month a head
Also the receptionist is nice at times but usually fluster and don’t know what I’m trying to explain

For 30+ years Dr Hoy has been my GP. He has always been available, and also very good at explaining all things to me. Never any unnecessary procedures or tests. Nori his assistant is very helpful, as well.
The star rating includes the receptionist and nurse assistant too.

This doctor called my mom for results and gave my results to her as well. I went in to drop off a urine sample and the results should have been discussed with me. I am over 18 years old and I did not sign any consent forms for my information to be released to my family members. This is actually an issue with confidentiality. It was my result and my health information that was shared to my mom who I did not say it would be ok to him ever. Super unprofessional.

Dr. Hoy doesn't listen. He never takes my concerns seriously. I have gone many months now with a painful condition due to the fact the he wouldn't send me for any tests/imaging. Another doctor sent me for tests and we found out I do have a problem that needs to be dealt with. I've also stopped seeing him as he is now only working two days per week, so getting into see him is utterly impossible. Go elsewhere.

Dr. Hoy has been my family physician for 38 years. He has never steered me wrong and has seen me through every physical milestone so far. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has an excellent bedside manner. I truly dread the day he tells me he is retiring.

staff are extremely rude. The reception always says, you need to book an appointment with the doctor. Not mindful of how they are spending tax payers money. Dr Hoy is never on time, however, he is a nice man. Need a prescription refill only, make an appointment with the doctor. Really! same drug for 10 years.
