Dr. Marks performed what I would call a life-saving ACL reconstruction on my knee in 2015. My initial injury occurred in 2013. Over those two years, I had seen 4 other specialists who stated that I did not require surgery despite the fact that all aspects of my daily life were altered significantly. I was unable to walk without self-medicating and fell into a severe depression. Dr. Marks within 10 minutes of our first consultation was shocked that I had not already had an operation and asked me how I had been walking at all the prior 2 years.
the day of the consultation my surgery was scheduled, a month later I was fitted for a custom brace to tide me over, and 6 months later the surgery was complete (not without a few scheduling changes due to the Raptors playoff run) Dr. Marks and his staff are incredibly attentive with great patient communication. Dr. Marks himself is a hilarious man who makes even the scariest of surgery consultations seem like a meeting with a friend. I was confident in his abilities from the start and that never wavered throughout the whole pre and post-op process.
I cannot recommend him enough and I am eternally grateful for now 8 years later I am back in the same physical condition I was before the injury with little to no pain.

Dr. Marks knowledge, experience, and surgical results are off the charts! He fixed my knee and I am running again! He is now diagnosing my shoulder with the diligence I have not received at other specialists. Simply the best! Lisa is amazing at communicating your next steps and setting up tests, appointments, etc. Thank you both very much!

Dr. Mark’s took care of my torn ACL in my left knee in 2007. The outcome was excellent. His follow up and explanations of the options and procedure were thorough. I have since returned back to normal very active sports within 8 months. I play soccer, hockey, road biking and running. I ran several 10 km races since. I would recommend Dr Marks.

Great doctor! Closes the door during his appointment with you unlike some doctors. Very knowledgeable, patient, easy going and nice. Met with him once 1.5 years ago & it was a great experience!

The absolute best - you cannot go wrong with Dr. Paul Marks!! His assistant Lisa is a joy to deal with and is extremely accommodating. The entire staff at Sunnybrook is top notch and I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Paul Marks and the entire staff!! To top it all off, the CEO (Andy Smith) was kind enough to see me right after my last operation (of 2) repairing both of my shoulders. The passion for medical health that I witnessed and experienced is unbelievable! Both of my shoulders suffered massive rotator cuff tears after decades of hockey. Dr. Paul Marks operated on both shoulders with such perfect precision, I didn`t require pain killers for either operation. Prior to surgery, I struggled to lift and stabilize 15 pounds over either shoulder. My 2nd operation was last year at 62 yrs old. I am now at the gym shoulder pressing over 100 pounds over 5 sets - each set with 10 reps (I`m a small guy at 150 lbs). I have full mobility in both shoulders and ZERO PAIN! This surgeon is a Miracle Maker and I tip my hat off to Dr. Paul Marks, CEO & Dr. Andy Smith, Lisa Keable and the entire crew!!

WOW! Thank you Dr. Paul Marks and Lisa Keable :)
My 16 year old son was definitely in the best hands possible with Dr. Paul Marks.
My son had a severe tear in his ACL, a tear in lateral miniscus, a sprained MCL and a deep bone bruise.
We are from Peterborough so our family physician obviously referred us to a different orthopedic surgeon here in Peterborough. Thank goodness we knew someone else who had the same surgery with Dr Marks and was an avid rugby player. Otherwise, we never would have known about this exceptional surgeon.
We had our consultation on April 25th and was booked for surgery on June 5th. We were already impressed.
The anticipated pain afterwards was surprising. We obviously were given a prescription for morphine but I refused to give it to my son unless it was ABSOLUTELY necessary and thank goodness I didnt need to use any of it.
The only thing that I would have appreciated was talking with Dr Marks right after the surgery. I know he is a busy man but I had a few questions and the nurse did not seem to be aware of what happened with the lateral miniscus tear. Anyway, I emailed Dr Marks' amazing secretary, Lisa, and she has always been incredibly amazing at responding back with the information needed.
Both Dr Marks and Lisa have amazing souls. Dr Marks kept us laughing (awesome environment).
My son, Trent, was back playing contact Varsity football less than a year after surgery without any pain, swelling or numbness. He also was back playing badminton, cutting and pivoting with no issues.
His scar is unbelievable as well. The nurses here had a hard time trying to figure out how to take the stitching out since the majority was under the skin and just needed to be pulled straight through.
Many doctors perform the surgery by taking a tendon out of the hamstring and I have heard a lot of stories of failed surgeries. This was NOT the approach Dr Marks took with my son.
I thought my son was done with sports, and it broke my heart, but Dr Marks worked another miracle. Thank you :)

Dr. Marks and his staff at Sunnybrook are the absolute best. Prior to seeing Dr. Paul Marks, I had two unsuccessful ACL surgeries performed by two other surgeons at a different hospital. The first ACL reconstruction involved using the patellar tendon from the same knee. The revision ACL surgery involved taking the patellar tendon from the opposite knee, to donate to the injured knee, which led to issues in what was previously my perfectly good knee.

I was then referred to Dr. Marks, “the Raptors Medical Director and #1 ACL surgeon in Canada”, who performed a complex two-stage ACL revision. The consultations, procedures, and post-op care with Dr. Marks were topnotch – he is an exceptionally gifted surgeon, super knowledgeable, very friendly, and has a great sense of humour. Before going into the operating room, he offered to play music of my choice; the morning after each surgery, he took the time to speak with me and answer questions.

I was able to return to hip hop and contemporary dance since then, and have had no issues dancing for the past 3+ years. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Marks and his team for helping me get back to doing what I love. His assistant, Lisa, is phenomenal as well.

For anyone looking for an orthopaedic surgeon, you can trust that you will be in good hands with Dr. Marks. I believe he has performed more ACL surgeries than anyone else in Canada. Given that he is in high demand, the wait times to get surgery may be longer than others – but he is definitely worth the wait.

This guy is a miracle worker! He did my left shoulder 4 years ago, a complete rotator cuff tear and did an outstanding job considering I waited  3 years to have surgery.  Two years later I fell down the stairs and tore my other rotator cuff even worse than the left. He had me on the operating table within six months! My shoulder is back to 100%! Awesome guy, very funny and confident.  His secretary is great also. Thanks again  Dr. Mark's!

This guy is a magician. I had a full ACL rupture in my right knee. I was lucky as Dr. Marks didn't have that big of a waiting list. We scheduled a surgery one month after having a great consultation - he's very laid back, makes jokes and just has an aura of confidence to him. After the surgery, I had no pain whatsoever, didn't have to any pain killers, and began to bend my knee gently with a towel around my heel the day after surgery to start building up my range of motion. I got rid of my crutches at ~10 days, I'm at 90% range of motion after 5 weeks. The swelling is gone, I'm walking, going up/down stairs, driving and cycling at my gym. Beyond glad that I went with Dr. Marks.

I had an allograft ACL transplant on my left knee done by Dr. Marks in Nov. 2018.
Quick and disciplined recovery process and 5 months later I'm back on the tennis court - at 57!
Extremely kind and professional in my evaluation and preparation for the surgery, "golden hands" during the surgery itself, rigorous follow ups and advice for quick recovery, great personality and sense of humour, Dr. Marks is THE surgeon you need for a knee surgical intervention.
His assistant Lisa complements him in being extremely professional, kind and compassionate.
My sincere gratitude and top appreciation, Dr. Marks. We need more surgeons like you.
