Dr. Loewen is very knowledgable and friendly. I love the fact that when you go to his office by yourself he always asks how the kids are doing and remebers them by name! I would not trade Dr. Loewen in for any other physician in the world!! In rehards to the wait time when you see him that is every doctor's office in the city!

Doctor Loewen is great BUT .... my biggest issue is with his staff, who are extremely unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Making an appointment is almost impossible by phone as you are almost always receiving a recorded message. And when you show up for your appointment, be prepared to wait...and wait. As well, it could be up to 9:30 before the switchboard is turned on at all

Dr. Loewen is personable and knowledgeable enough. My biggest issue is with his staff, who are extremely unfriendly, curt to the point of rudeness. As well, it could be up to 9:30 before the switchboard is turned on at all. If it wasn't so damned difficult to get another doctor in Calgary, I would be gone.

Dr. Loewen has been a very good doctor. I have a very complex medical history and he always makes extra time for my issues. He has been open to new treatments and is very personable. I would rather have a doctor look up something in a book, then one who guesses. I would not trade him for the world.

Normally I don't prefer male doctors but I ended up seeing him once mid -pregnancy and I thought he was so great - I switched to him for the rest of my pregnancy. He always took the time to answer questions and he was very open to my thoughts and opinions regarding my pregnancy and delivery. He always detected my mood and seemed to know when I was concerned or frustrated - he always asked and sat down and listened. When my daughter was born - she started having seizures and needed to stay in NICU for 10 days. Everyday and night he was on call, he would check in on my daughter and let me know (in plain english) everything that was going on. She was not his patient but he cared about our family. He is a warm and caring person and in my opinion, he goes above and beyond as a doctor.

I was referred to this doctor for my first pregnancy. I was very happy with the treatment and punctuality of the clinic and never felt like I was rushed through. I kept experiencing water retention in the last 2 months of my pregnancy and kept asking about my condition but there wasn't any concern. He sent me for another ultrasound the last time I saw him but failed to mention it was to look for a possible clot because my blood pressure was high and I put on 40 lbs. of water weight in 2 weeks. The next night I decided to go to the hospital instead and was immediately induced and put on blood pressure medication I was at a severe risk of having a seizure and lapsing into a coma from the blood pressure and I didn't even know that was a concern. They told me the extreme water weight should have been my first clue. I'm very happy with the service and as a concerned patient, do feel it necessary to take precaution of my own symptoms, I know my body best. It doesn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion

Dr. Loewen is a nice guy but isn't equipped or inclined to delve into your health concerns to any depth. I do a fair bit of research into my health concerns and am very proactive. I have asked for tests before that he didn't agree with and had him roll his eyes at me before he finally agreed. I am 35 and had been trying to conceive for 7 months when I first went to see him. He did a test to see if I was ovulating (I was) but when I asked if a 9 day luteal phase was a problem he just dismissed it and said no. Three months later he referred me to the fertility clinic and basically washed his hands of me. Two other drs. confirmed that a 9 day luteal phase is a problem and it turned out to be what was causing me not to get pregnant. During the 7 month wait for the fertility clinic I basically became my own dr. and eventually convinced his locum to put me on progsterone...I am now 7 weeks pregnant and just got the call from the fertility clinic.

I would never refer anyone to Dr Loewen. I took my son there due to rapid breathing and failing to eat. Dr Loewen said there was nothing wrong. I took my son to the Childrens hospital where he was immediatley admitted for pnemonia. The emergency doctor said it was very obvious my son was struggling and it should not have been missed the day before. Needless to say I have a new doctor.

Dr. Loewan is attentive, addresses my raised concerns and has discussed multiple issues at a single appointment. He offers new treatments and solutions to consider, and is careful to review the pros and cons. He's a great doctor, and very good with women's health. I appreciate that he references online material to ensure his advice is as up to date as possible.
