I was very hesitant to deal with any more doctors surrounding treatment of my Adult ADHD. I had lost hope. I was willing to see Dr. Ocana as a result of being encouraged by my boss, I almost didn't go and intended to lie to people close to me about taking any medication that I might have been prescribed. I have had so many bad experiences around medication at that point and was afraid to be thrown off balance because I was at a VERY critical point in my career. I was very impressed by his efficient intake questioning, his process of going about understanding my own flavor of ADHD as well as me as a person. He blends science with the HUMAN side of the condition. That really impressed me. His treatment plan took some patience and time but it was worth it. I cry sometimes I'm so happy, I finally have the tools to do the rest of the work to heal my life and build a stronger future. He's quite the character, glad I met him.

My counsellor recommended Dr. Ocana because I was depressed and suicidal. I was hesitant, but finally made the appt. My GP, who'd been increasing my doses of antidepressants and after suggesting treatment centers (2 expensive ones that I attended for 60 days) and 12 Step programs that failed, had given up on me. I really did believe there was no hope for me. On my first visit to Ocana I was a mess, he looked at me and said, "I can help you." He prescribed medication and I started taking it immediately. I got home and threw my antidepressants in the trash (against his recommendation). Within 2 days I felt better and now feel like I actually have a chance at life. I've had no thoughts of suicide since taking the meds. What a relief. I'm stable, happy, exercising regularly and before making rash decisions I think first. Unbelievable!!! To me he's a miracle worker as I've suffered with misdiagoses for the last 20 years of my life. I can't thank him enough. Darlene N.

No business, service nor doctor can trumpet 100% user satisfaction. The majority of feedback I have read is very positive and my experience has been very positive as well. My wife was correctly diagnosed with adhd as a 39 year old. A marriage headed for certain disaster has been redirected with Dr Ocana's help. I have not witnessed a hint of arrogance in the year that I have attended appointments with my wife. As for prescribing medication, the reality is that it can take a decade to properly dial in the proper medicinal compounds in the proper dosages, so it will always be an issue of trial and error. Arriving at the proper prescription dosage is therefore a process, not an event, which I have also had to learn over time. I will continue to be a confident fan of Dr. Ocana's based on the diagnosis and treatment of members in my family. Take care.

Doctor Ocana is a true champion for Adult suffers of ADHD. My assesment and diagnosis was made over 4 visits prior to being diagnosed. The medication I was prescribed has been as near a miracle as I could ask for. I now have the capacity to be the husband and father my family deserves. I can now focus on my families needs and the details of conducting a successful life. My eating is now under control and I have lost 25 lbs over the past 3 months. I now control my decisions of what to eat and how much, I did not expect this wonderful benefit. I am now more able to listen to my family and friends and act on their needs. For those of you have negative feedback for Dr. Ocana please keep in mind diagnosis of brain imparements is not an exact science and patience is required. Dr. Ocana has always taken the time to listen to my input and together we make decisions based on both of our inputs. Thanks again Dr. Ocana!

He didn't help me at all. He was fine to talk to though. He prescribed drugs that made me depressed. He gave me the wrong diagnosis. And he seemed distrustful.

Dr.Ocana has changed my life for the better. He diagnosed my symptoms and it was after being medicated that i truly understood how much my bipolar affected my life. I am now able to be in social situations without feeling uncomfortable and my anxiety no longer runs my life. I was able to finish school which wouldn't have been a option without Ocana's support and diagnoses. Thanks!! :)

After being frustrated with our medical system and the lack of resources available in the adult ADHD area, I consider myself fortunate to have found Dr. Ocana. After a few sessions he diagnosed me with ADHD. I can see why there are such different opinions of him. My first impression of him wasn't good. As some of you described: arrogance. I have to agree but I think it's ok. Competence comes with a little arrogance. Or competence is arrogance? It's a very thin line. Anyways with time I saw that he is really good at what he does and cares about what he does. I wasn't there to be babied. I was there to fix my problem and that he did. I would without hesitation recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Ocana's assessment process for ADHD(3 or so visits) is worth the the time it takes. He's very educated & well experienced, & therefore he's not quick to throw anyone on the incorrect meds nor miss hidden hidden issues. His personality has seemed laid back and non judgmental. I looked long & hard for a Dr./Psychiatrist/Therapist who knew the right questions to ask & the right treatment for the answers. If the meds you're on feel wrong & talk therapy isn't enough, I strongly recommend him.
