This doctor told my father it was his own fault he got terminal pancreatic cancer. He also practiced outside of his own spectrum of knowledge to diagnose my father, which a specialist had to do.

I went to SJRH after suffering extensive pain in my left shoulder and chest area. The doctor Hanigan came in to see me started to do an ultrasound on my lower right side and when I told him my pain was in my upper left side he came back with he was checking my gallbladder. He never did do an ultrasound on left side. He proceeded to tell me that my pain was from me treating my body bad from being overweight and said I was hiding my feelings and putting up armour with my dyed hair and makeup. He said I wouldn’t heal until I Let it out.He is a quack and should never be aloud to work in a hospital.

I don't even know where this comment would fall. I have seen him in the ER with my husband when he broke his arm and he was very nice. However, I just seen him have a full blown temper tantrum in the arrivals area at the Saint John airport because security stopped the belt and asked him to not let his kid play on the conveyor belt. He started screaming at the security, who in my opinion was very polite, and reasonable to ask for the safety of the child. I was shocked with his behaviour. I would never want this man anywhere near me in the hospital. He's a loose cannon.

I was in to the ER yesterday afternoon with my 4 month old son. He was fantastic, by far the most pleasant doctor I have ever dealt with. He pulled up a chair and interacted with my baby while he checked him over, and then explained to me the diagnosis so that I actually knew what I was dealing with and how to make my son feel better. The best part is that I didn't leave the ER feeling stupid and dismissed. Thank you, Dr Hannigan!!

I was just to the ER, suffering from chest pain. In my early 40’s so it is always alarming having these symptoms for the first time coupled with a family history of heart disease. Dr. Hannigan introduced himself to me, and it was evident from that moment he was there to gather the appropriate information at the same time never at all made me feel as though what I had to share with him was irrelevant. He listened to every detail and took his time with me. He took my symptoms very seriously at the same time ruled out any signs of a heart attach. He took the time to explain to me why he felt the way he did and what might have been causing my symptoms. It honestly felt like he would have been willing to give me all the time in the world to reassure me my heart was ok. Just what I needed!! To assist with my concern, he is sending me for a stress test in order to rule out any further possibilities. Saint John is very fortunate to have such a talent Dr. Don’t change a thing Dr Hannigan, you should be very proud of yourself and the team of nurses that support you! Thank you for your encouraging words and the advice on slowing down enough to smell the roses! With all the negative things going on in our world, people like you need to be recognized.

My boyfriend saw Dr. Hannigan at the emergency. This doctor was so professional. He introduced himself to us both! He was patient with him while getting information and treated my boyfriend with so much respect and compassion. He assured us we were not wasting his time and took time to really listen. So grateful we have this doctor here
at the emergency! I really couldn’t thank him enough!

Great Doctor. I really can’t find the words to thank him enough. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Dr listen to me like he did. I’ve had headaches for 20 years and the last few years I’ve had some other symptoms that I won’t get into. He’s the only doctor that has ever sent me for a CT scan. That’s how they found my rather large brain tumour. I still have to have it removed and deal with all the rehabilitation. Who knows what could have happened down the road if he had never sent me for the scan. Thank you so much for being a great Doctor. Sorry for the poor grammar that’s one of my symptoms.

Have to say Dr. Hannigan absolutely restored my faith of why I originally entered nursing myself. i am permanently disabled by a condition they cannot explain or find a reason for and my faith has long been diminished by the many many physicians I have seen because everyone seems to feel the need to diagnose me with a diagnosis in their own realm. I have been given so many differential diagnosis in 8 years it is ridiculous and many without even an ounce of investigation or review of my file, let alone substantiation. Unfortunately many of our current physicians in this city have failed to retain their communication and investigative questioning skills which this doctor has thankfully maintained. Our doctors simply rely on tests and band-aid fixes opposed to finding the actual root of the problem by truly listening for the key cues expressed by their patients. Dr. Hannigan exhibited and excellent, friendly, warm bedside manner, while remaining polite and professional. He made me feel reassured that my visited was warranted and assured me he felt safe in letting me leave and backed up his reasoning by reviewing why he felt as he did. He listened intently and asked questions that were pertinent to the specific events at hand as well as gave suggestions on different ways that I may be able to better handle my symptoms without simply throwing another prescription at me. Thank you for the care, very much appreciated.
