As has been mentioned, his bedside manner is very poor. Appears at the doorway for 10 seconds and then disappears. Does not like questions. Answers them in a condescending manner with general, not specific, information.
He operated 2 times on my husband a year apart for rectal cancer. Both times there were leaks in the area that work that was done The latter time it was a massive leak of fecal material into the abdomen which wasn’t discovered for several days and resulted in further surgeries. My husband spent most of the following year in hospital due to the complications that had arisen. He died a month ago. What had presented itself as a solvable problem according to Dr. Phang, resulted in my husband’s life being greatly shortened. I would never let Dr. Phang touch my body.

Terrible, sent me home with a tied off to remove large anal polyp. I saw another Dr at Vancouver, who removed in day surgery. Never came back.... I would Hazzard a guess he's homophobic. My family Dr also thought so, and encouraged me to file a college of physicians and surgeons. Recently the other Dr retired and it just reminded me Phang is condescending and self important. He does not understand the Hippocratic oath!

i personally loved the simplicity of Dr. Phang’s explanation of my surgery plan. i could feel his confidence as he clearly explained my choices for surgery. I felt totally confident in his skill. and believe he saved my life.

Hard to know his knowledge base as his bedside manner is poor which does not instill trust. He does not like questions and rushes out of room so you can't ask any. He often just stands at doorway to talk to you. Disappointed
