We had the opportunity to take advantage of the early release program after giving birth at Montfort hospital which meant we were followed by a midwife (Erin) for the week after our baby was born. We were very pleased with the service she provided and definitely are hoping to have her for future babies.

Erin was my midwife in 2016. I experienced a number of issues that required monitoring and one that placed me at higher risk. Erin was attentive, informative and reassuring. She was on time and gave me time to discuss my concerns and answered my questions thoroughly and without hesitation. She respected my choices, even when they changed at the last minute. I highly recommend Erin!

I wouldn’t recommend Erin as a midwife. I had a great experience with other midwives on staff however. Erin made a couple of judgement calls that demonstrated her lack of experience. She was late to appointments and didn’t accept some of my choices in the prenatal process. I would recommend the clinic but not this particular midwife.

I love her so much. She provided me with the exact birth that I wanted. She eased my anxiety a lot and was honestly amazing. I am now having my third and I am so sad she is pregnant lol I really wanted her again!

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Erin. While she is a pleasant person, she's a bit too relaxed about the childbirth process. She left me at the hospital after starting a chemical induction and didn't check in once until, when things started to go wrong very suddenly, she returned and transferred care to the obstetricians at the Civic. She seems very inexperienced and unsure of herself - not qualities that are helpful in the stressful moments around childbirth. I was totally disappointed in my overall experience with Ottawa South Midwives.

Perhaps it is just a personality clash. But I do not feel confident with Erin. She almost does not seem to take the process seriously. I felt she pushed her views on me - I asked for hospital from the first appointment and she said we would talk about it again - I was asked several times - and in my last month saw 'hospital?' written in my charts - a hospital birth was what I wanted from the start - another midwife corrected my chart. My baby has not been born yet and I'm hoping he/she will come in the next two weeks, a bit early, while Erin is on holidays! I don't feel confident having her be in charge of the birth. I requested a midwife change but never received a call back.

The worst experience ever. I hate to rate negatively but I feel it is important that people are aware of my experience. I felt she was much too young and inexperienced to be on her own during my birth (which she was for several hours). My husband was appalled - as she displayed little confidence and was always looking to doctors and nurses to help her prior to my care being transferred to the hospital.

Erin helped me through a successful vbac experience. In the final stage in labour, she assisted so much in getting baby to arrive without any intervention. I was so impressed at her exceptional skills and abilities, and being so young I'm glad she will be part of many future births. I'm so blessed to have her help me succeed in my vbac. She is caring and patient. I never felt pushed around. She let me feel empowered. She makes you feel comfortable during appointments and always addressed questions and concerns in a professional manner.I highly recommend her.
