Having seen Bacsu for a very long time, I can tell you without a doubt that there can be a wide range of experiences with her. There are times where she can seem compassionate. If you happen to catch that side of her you'd have a good experience. However, in my loooooooong experience with this urologist, I can assure you that she is in fact, a dismissive and condescending doctor who fakes her compassionate at times.

Also note that she has two RateMD profiles on here. She is ranked both #4 and #11/13 on here. It just shows you how polarizing patient experiences can be with this clinician.

The worst doctor experience I have ever encountered in terms of professionalism and care. Before entering my room, I could hear her loudly talking negatively about her other patient in the hall to her staff which was shocking. Then proceeded to come in disgruntled at having to work the Friday before a long weekend. Then began to take her frustrations out on me and chastised me to the point I was in tears for a lack of lab results that year and that I waisted her time. As if I want to be there going through this along with the pain I experience. At that point when she saw me crying, had the audacity to proceed to tell me that maybe I should seek psychiatric help for my emotional issues. Appalling. This experience has still impacted me years on. I never want to experience care like that again.

I too am surprised by the positive reviews. I found her condescending, rude, and didn't seem to care much about me at all. I felt like she was rushing me out. I didn't get much answer to my medical issue. No follow up scheduled. I wouldn't be surprised if the doctor wrote those herself.

Surprised to see some of the positive reviews on here because I had a uro procedure with this doctor and the experience couldn't be worse. I had quite a few questions with her before the procedure and she tersely dismissed every single one of my concerns in the most condescending tone possible. When I'm in a vulnerable position and I am entrusting someone with my health, a little understanding and compassion go a long way so don't tell me "I don't need compassion." You don't speak for me.

I was surprised to see some of the reviews on here. I really like Dr. Bacsu. I’ve always found her pleasant and she was super nice and gentle doing my scope. She knows her profession well and I would recommend her.

Overall, my experience with this doctor was very negative. I found her to be rude, callous, arrogant and demeaning. I will never go back to see her again.

As most residents in Victoria may know, we don't have that many urologists in the area. Wait time for most urologists is typically at least 10-12 months, if not longer. I was somewhat surprised when I got an appointment in about 4-5 months. After reading the comments on here, I'm not surprised. My experiences with Dr. Bacsu were somewhat negative in that she would simply dismiss my questions or requests by saying "I'm not going to do that" without offering any explanations or rationale. I didn't find her helpful in that respect. In terms of her demeanors or bedside manners, I thought she was okay. I can see why some patients might be turned off by the way she comes across. Most surgeons are like this. Pretty subjective if you ask me. In terms of sending rude faxes to family doctors, that's just poor business sense on Dr. Bacsu's part. Why would you offend the people who actually bring you business? Reading these comments makes me lose some respect for this urologist. If these allegations are true, I feel bad for those family physicians -- they are already overworked and kicked around by everybody, but I'm sure they could simply respond by withholding future referrals or directing those referrals elsewhere. They'll be fine.

I don’t require compassion, or even societal niceties from my medical professionals. I get the support I need elsewhere. I don’t even mind “terse” - you’re not my friend, but for heaven’s sake - when you have a patient who has been suffering for over 8 years with a condition that makes every day life miserable, attempting to navigate a broken health care system on their own - do not include emperious comments like “don’t do this or that, or I’ll fire you”, or “you’ve been taking this/doing that? I’m not a fan of that” without an explanation. Doctors are in a position of power, and comments like this are just intimidating. I was literally scared to do anything wrong lest I lose a medical connection. Look, I get it - doctors are overworked, they hear complaints all day - but guess what - so does everyone these days. I found the desk staff and nurse incredibly helpful and professional. Lots of handouts and information which has clearly been researched and created to inform the patient.
