Dr. Scudamore treated me several decades ago for a gallstone, using the then novel lithotripsy procedure. The stone’s fragments, unfortunately, remained undischarged, and when, after some time, the pain returned, I appealed to him to finish the job. Despite having shifted his surgical focus to Oncology, he kindly agreed. Happily, the laparoscopy was successful, and I remain problem-free to this day. How delighted I am, thirty years on now, to find that Dr. Scudamore has opened a plastic surgery practice in my neighbourhood, Dunbar, vying for custom with the many barber shops that also specialize in the removal of growths. Indeed, I availed myself of Dr. Scudamore’s expertise again, for a seborrheic keratosis. It has been my good fortune to have been able to call upon Dr. Scudamore’s skills and care over the years.

Dr. Scudamore saved my life. Period! I suffered for 8 years with what I was told gallbladder attacks daily. Mentally, physically, emotionally exhausted. Not one Doctor or specialist would believe me or help me. I had already had my gallbladder removed and the attacks didn't stop. They got stronger and I had so many triggers. I was in contact with a Doctor in London, England and he would see me if I could get to London. I couldn't. I created a FB support group for people who suffer after gallbladder removal and that led me to another group for Shpinter of oddi disfunction. In both groups I found several people who suffered from literally the exact same symptoms as myself. I felt there was a light at the end of the tunnel. After trying for years and being shot down and told it's anxiety or in my head, and none believing that I could possibly have a stone stuck thst they can't find on scans or possibly SOD. One specific lady asked if I had ever heard of Dr. Scudamore in Vancouver? I hadn't. So she told me he saved her life and that he will talk with me over the phone first and we can go from there... She gave me the number to call and I did. His receptionist was so sweet and told me he would absolutely do a phone consultation, but I would just need a referral from my GP. I had that right away. And within a few weeks I had a phone appointment with him.
The day came and my husband and I were so very nervous. Was he going to believe me and was he going to listen to what's really happening and how hard my life is.
He called, and he asked me about 3 or 4 questions and after I answered his questions, he said, well Amanda I'm going to help you. He asked if I had even heard of Shpinter of oddi disfunction and instantly my shoulders dropped and I started to tear up. He said it could be that or I have a stone stuck possibly that they can't find. He agreed that I would need a test that is rare that was suggested to me and he asked if I could get to Vancouver to see him and I said pick the day. I could be there tomorrow. I was beyond thrilled. The relief I had was unreal. My husband was amazed at how knowledgeable he was about my symptoms as well. In two months I had a test and surgery date. We flew to Vancouver. I had the 'MRCP with Secretin' and two days later I met with him and he was so comforting and he assured me I was going to be okay and I felt better. I had a ERCP where he found I was full of sludge and my bile duct was completely obstructed and he cleared it out and opened up my pancreatic duct and bile duct.
To this day I haven't had one problem or symptom. He literally saved my life. He was so knowledgeable and caring and kind. He took the time to answer all my questions and he didn't make me feel stupid. Dr. Scudamore is a phenomenal Specialist and I will forever be grateful.

Dr. Scudamore operated on me 2 years ago. I was blessed to have this amazing surgeon take care of me! He went above and beyond during Covid, to get my surgery scheduled, then after a successful rare surgery, his after care was incredible. To those who are lucky enough to have him as a surgeon…you are in the best hands!

Excellent surgeon who removed my Gall Bladder (Dec-2018) which contained some tiny cancer. He was referred due to my P.S.C. No problems since.

Dr Scudamore spoke life over my husband when everyone else spoke death. He made himself so available to us, to answer all our cares and concerns. When he heard my husband was admitted to VGH, he dropped on a Saturday, just to check in and encourage him. If it weren't for Dr. Scudamore, we would have no hope and we would be waiting for my husband to die. We will never forget him and his care for us.
