I saw Dr. Melck as an out of province patient from Saskatchewan. I had a diagnosis of normocalcemic hyperparathyroidism and my specialists in Sask (endocrinologist and internist) did not think it warranted surgery despite being incredibly debilitating for the last 2.5 years and no other known cause for my symptoms. I was part of a facebook group where she was highly recommended from Vancouver, BC, so I reached out and her assistant, Myra, told me that she accepts out of province referrals, so I had my GP refer me to her. It was the best thing that could have happened!! She was absolutely wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable, and she recommended surgery given my symptoms and labwork. She did tell me that there was a risk of her opening me up to find nothing at all, but despite that, she thought this was the best course given my labwork and clinical presentation. My initial phone appointment was in October 2022 and I had surgery in January 2023. When I awoke, I instantly had no joint or hip pain, and felt like the brain fog had cleared despite still being drowsy from anesthesia. She told me she found the culprit gland and my PTH levels dropped instantly after removal, making it not only a satisfying surgery, but also successful. 6 months out, I am nearing my normal again. I don't need antidepressants for depression or anxiety, I have energy, I can sleep, I'm no longer in pain or have brain fog and I can go to the gym again and enjoy life. If it wasn't for Dr. Melck and her expertise, I would still only be surviving one day to the next. I am so forever thankful to have gotten my life back at 31 years of age, I highly recommend her!!

Dr. Melck did my adrenal surgery which was a complicated surgery and also did a large hernia repair and I couldn’t have asked for a more caring better doctor than Dr. Adrienne Melck.

I need an adrenal surgery which has been booked for for today but canceled by another doctor. I feel very frustrated and belittling. I wish I can book this doctor and get my surgery down. Can I contact an surgery by myself?

I want to start by complimenting Britt, Dr. Merck’s assistant, who is probably the best person I have ever dealt with in medicine. She actually answers the phone, uses email to communicate (sadly really rare in 21st Century medicine), is totally organized, and is absolutely lovely to deal with. Dr. Merck is also a wonderfully kind person which really is necessary when dealing with people going through something traumatic like surgery. She is also a knowledgeable and very capable surgeon. The combination of these two ladies can help a patient feel calm, reassured and taken care of.

May 6,2020. Parathyroidectomy surgery. I was very lucky to get my surgery at this time as the coronavirus had upset any scheduled work for the foreseeable future. I didn't think my situation was urgent so I was prepared to wait. Britt worked from home to get me to in for the operation as well as for the prerequisite covid test the day before.
We came over from Comox and self isolated in our motorhome for the week even though the surgery only took one day. Dr. Melck and the anathesialagist met me presurgery to allay any fears. Soon after I was meeting with her to tell me 4 hours had passed and the job was done. I spent the next day convalescing and was up and about the day after. Two weeks later I am surprised at how much better I'm doing since having my tumor removed.
A big thank you to Dr. Melck and her team! And another thank you to everyone working to keep us safe in the pandemic. Charles.

Dr. Melck and her team performed my Parathyroidectomy on OCT 23rd 2019.
I could not be more impressed with her. Not only is she a very skilled surgeon who inspired complete confidence in me but she is also a genuinely kind and caring person. Her staff, Britt especially, went above and beyond from our very first interaction right through to surgery aftercare. I felt so lucky to have a surgeon whom I trusted completely and who made this difficult process feel easy. I will be forever grateful that Dr. Melck was able to get me in so quickly, do an excellent job and save my life.

Dr. Melk is a phenomenal doctor and surgeon. She operated for both my appendix and thyroid surgeries, and for both she was compassionate, caring, patient, and extremely knowledgable from the first consult right through to post-op appointments. Her reputation precedes her, as I had heard from many others that she is one of the region's best surgeons, which quickly proved true. Both of my surgeries went extremely smoothly, so not only does she (and her great staff!) bring a wonderful bedside manner, but she is extremely capable and talented as one of the best surgeon's in her field. Had my left adrenal gland removed by Dr.Melck last November, as it was found to have a tumor on it (Pheochromocytoma). Dr.Melck and her team were AMAZING!! I highly recommend her to anyone that has endocrine issues. Dr.Melck is VERY caring, professional and knowledgeable! Hands down the best surgeon i have ever had.

My mother had to have her parathyroid removed. Dr. Melck was professional and extremely compassionate. She took the time to explain everything, with thorough follow up. Her demeanor and professionalism made a difficult time much easier. Thank you to Dr. Melck and her entire staff.
