I would be very remiss if I did not write and thank Dr. Leanne Wood for her excellent care she gave me yesterday. She is so caring, compassionate and explained my whole procedure very well and took the time with me as if I were her only patient while there were many surgeries she had to attend to that day. She is very knowledgeable, punctual and a lovely person. We are so fortunate to have her here in Campbell River. Kudos to herself and her team.

Run away as fast as you can!
She should not be practicing medicine, let alone doing surgeries!
Run away from this person. She will only cause you pain & suffering.
Even her receptionist is a clue to how terrible this person is.
Know them by the company they keep.
Look at what she did to the patient who needed a gall bladder removed!
She should not be allowed to practice!
Run away, as fast as you can!
Ask for help and be rudely told to request removal from a list that cares not about priorities of true needs.
I asked to be expedited, after waiting 3 years, and I was told that I could remove myself from the list.....
First come first served, yet, she called a patient (twice) to come in for surgery, when that patient had no symptoms and did not want surgery!
Run away from this quack!

Say no to Dr. Leanna Woods as she can botch a gallbladder operation. Made son wait for surgery until his gallbladder was ready to erupt and then only removed half, yes half his gallbladder leaving five stones, one in the neck trying to make it's way to the common bile duct. He was in and out of emerg having gallbladder attacks for more than a month with no results. Dr Woods asked him to wait 6 more weeks for surgery and in the mean time take medication for pain. Hospital time finally booked and now she wants to pass her botched gallbladder surgery off on other surgeons in Vancouver where family can't stay without it costing in time and money. This leaves my son waiting even longer, now costing the medical system money and time once again. IMO she is incompetent and has lied to my son. Office staff is wonderful, Dr. Minnaar is great.

I saw this female surgeon recently as she was recommended by my family doctor, also a woman. It was for breast issues. I attended the appointment with my husband. My initial contact in the office was with the receptionist who was very chatty with everyone, showing them pictures on her phone of her son, the phone was ringing, and she kept putting people on hold, and the line up at the front desk was building up. eventually I had papers thrown at me to fill in, and had barely sat down, when I was called in by the doctor. Unfortunately I had not completed my form yet. We were shown into the room and the doctor sat down to ask me questions. She was wearing such a short dress, that both my husband and I did not know where to look. It was very uncomfortable. I landed up needing to have surgery, so I then met with the office nurse, who was very kind, thorough and helpful, and totally answered all our questions, and eased my concerns. On the day of surgery I again felt uneasy as the staff at the hospital told me that she was not the best breast surgeon in town. I bled significantly after the surgery and had a bruise from my neck to my hip bone. Her office nurse was very kind and helpful all through my recovery, even coming in over the weekend to do my dressings and care for me. My office follow up appointment with Dr wood was not a good experience again - the receptionist was busy eating and talking on the phone when we came in, and couldn't be bothered to greet us. Dr wood brushed off the complication, but did acknowledge that it was a common complication of hers. I later found out that this is very true - all her breast cancer surgeries bleed really badly. The only shining star in my whole care was from her nurse who was excellent.

Be wary of Dr. Woods "sugar sweet" office staff- they do not pass on information, such as a patients severe condition, availability and adaptability for appointments. They will tell you they have referred you to more than one location for an appointment- they do not. This happened to us twice. Call the booking offices yourself to confirm or you will be waiting a longer time than necessary. They do not care for their patients.
