Refused to help when his surgery failed, did all he could to make sure I couldn't get help. In short he did unbelievable damage and then left me to die.

I have had Dr. James operate on and care for me for about 3 years and I am very happy he was the surgeon on call when I first had an issue. He is skilled, thorough and caring. No matter what day of the week or holiday, he was at my bedside checking on me everyday I was in hospital. His follow up care leaves me feeling in control of what happens next. As for some of the comments on his staff, I feel that this has improved greatly since I first went in 2014. His current staff is very friendly and good with follow up. I like Dr James, I just don't want to need to see him too often ;)

Supposed to be a routine procedure. I talked with his reception staff about my wishes, talked with booking regarding ensuring that I received enough medicine to ensure that I didn't remember or wake up during procedure. I even talked with the sedation nurse about my concerns... ignored me and sedated me during a panic attack. Did the procedure, and I ended up with complications. I tried telling the nursing staff it didn't feel right. 2 emergency visits later and they have to put me onto antibiotics, I finally start to get better. No one took my continued bleeding seriously. He didn't even have the politeness to be professional and tell me what he did during the procedure. He walked away from me during check-up because I complained that I was sedated during a panic attack and wouldn't have done the procedure. He never scheduled a follow up appointment and did not even tell me what he did to me during the procedure.

after having my doctor send the referral to Dr James' office 3 times over 7 months the receptionist finally acknowledged getting it, but never called me to make an appointment like she said she would as soon as she received it. No issues with Dr James

Based on a number of visits and surgeries I rate Dr. James and his staff all 5. This is taking into account that sometimes a staff person may be detached or distracted or very busy, but there has never been any intentionally rude treatment. Dr. James is friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. He explains procedures,and follow up is thorough. He also shows real concern for recovery which is not always present in my experiences with other doctors. Concern or caring for a patient's recovery is, in my opinion,which is also supported by neuroscience research, vital in that recovery.
