Hands down the BEST paediatric surgeon in all of Canada. He saved my daughters life and repaired her AVSD defect in Nov 2019. Today we had our annual checkup for our daughter and the echocardiogram assistant complimented his work on her heart. We have heard this MANY times throughout our journey, of how much of a fantastic job he did on our baby heart. Rest assured your child is in phenomenal hands dealing with Dr. Al Aklabi. Dr. Al Aklabi gave my daughter a chance at life completing her Norwood-Sano back in October! Really hoping he is completing her Glenn & valve repair coming up.

He made us feel extremely comfortable about the procedure and came and spoke to us afterwards. I don’t think I can thank this man enough for the joy he has brought to our family!

He performed my son’s second open heart surgery
( mixed TAPVD).
Dr Aklabi was terrific, knowledgeable and incredible surgeon and the staff was always helpful and friendly. We immediately felt at ease and confident. He was very caring. He explained everything and answered our questions in perop. He came over to speak us immediately after the surgery. I would highly recommend to anyone.

He performed my son's surgery (valve repair) in May 2020. He was pleasant to speak with in preop, answered my questions, and came over to speak with me immediately after my son was out of surgery. Dr. Al Aklabi did my open heart surgery to replace a valve Nov. 2020. He is the kindest and most caring surgeon I have ever met. He checked back on me 4 times before flying back to Edmonton from Vanc. Answered all my questions, was informed, I wasn't just a number to him. I have never been treated with such compassion and skill by a surgeon in all my many surgeries.

He performed my sons open heart surgery and we were left waiting 2.5 hours after my son was in the PCICU thinking he was still in surgery. Still 6 days later haven’t seen or spoken to him since pre op
I have to say the scar looks amazing. But still you don’t leave A mother waiting thinking a 3 hour surgery turned to 6 hours.

He is very kind hearted. I remember him as a Fellow and he was so down to earth. He is very good with his patients and co workers. He is one of the best Cardiac Surgeons that we have in Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. He is very professional and excellent skills
