I saw Dr Gatehouse 4 weeks go. At the appointment he said he would refer me to a neurologist and said he would write the referral overnight and send it the next day. I was keen to get the referral as I am in pain and told him this. After one week I followed up in person with the receptionist and was told it wasn’t ready. I followed up three more times and was eventually advised it had been sent to a physician. I explained I already had physician. Then I was told it was sent to a different neurologist than the one Dr Gatehouse had told me. The receptionist then said to leave it with her and she would check with Dr Gatehouse and call me. Two days later I called and nothing had been done. I expressed frustration at this and finally I had a call back about 10 mins later to say the referral had just been emailed to the right doctor after 3 weeks. I am very angry about the ineptitude of Dr Gatehouse’s staff, which also reflects poorly on him. He needs to make sure his staff are properly trained and responsive to patients’ needs.

My son has had a fusion from T3 to T11, during the lead up I had an issue with his secretary, but was promptly contacted by the manager and she went through everything in detail...as we live 5 hours from Brisbane - this was a massive deal to organise.
Dr Gatehouse is very professional and knows what he's doing, the appointments were.alelwaus short bit concise and always had time for questions.

After the surgery there was only 2 days that we didn't see him. He is a very busy man and he is obviously in demand at several locations.

My son's wound looks amazing and he is doing everything required in day to day tasks himself and it's technically short of 3 weeks. I would absolutely recommend Dr Gatehouse to everyone.

Had a double acdf recommended by him to get rid of pain on the arm. His consultations are rather short, he seems to be in a hurry to finish your appointment quickly, not to mention he never actually really examined me (before or after) - he only listened and checked my scans, no psychical examination. Very little talk/explanation. The pain continues, and I now live with the doubt that I may have not needed the surgery at all, which just added extra neck pain and movement restriction. I’d be wary of any suggestion of acdf from the get-go. Check many other specialists beforehand, and try a more talkative doctor that cares to spend time explaining it all to you.

I got a L5S1 fusion done by Dr Gatehouse in Dec 2020. Best decision I've ever made. When I woke up in recovery my sciatica was gone. 8 months on and I'm practically pain free. He is a lovely caring man

Simon has performed 2 disk replacements on my neck. I went from immeasurable pain to pain free immediately. This guy is the real deal (and a great guy as well).

Dr. Gatehouse is a genius. His reputation with other doctors is immaculate and he is well respected by the hospital staff. I had Lumbar Spinal Surgery two weeks ago and I feel fine. His nurse called the other day to check on me and told me to slow down I was doing too much! I’ve never had a surgeons staff call to see how I was recovering and it was a lovely surprise. Dr. Gatehouse is not “chatty” so I guess some would say his bedside manner is not the best. But he’s not there to make friends and I like his Dr-Patient relationship just fine. Thank you Dr. Gatehouse, five stars all the way 👍
