In 2009, my back was frozen, knees were swollen and running a high fever for few weeks. I went to my family doctors for few months, and also went to emergency twice. I was diagnosed as having arthritis. This went on for about 4,5 months. My MRI was scheduled for another 3 months. Due to the excruciating amount of pain, I had no choice but left Canada. I went back to China and was diagnosed of having ankylosing spondylitis within a week. The infusing was $2000 Canadian each time, but I couldn't return to Canada until I can confirm that OHIP will cover my treatment. But my family doctor won't even talk to me on the phone unless I come back to Canada. I finally returned in May because I've depleted my savings, and got referred to an Internist, and while waiting, my pain increased daily. This dragged on until this Monday, I finally got to see Dr. Haroon. He is professional and knows about AS, and understands the patient's pain. I'm finally in good hands. He is just wonderful.

I saw Dr Nigil Haroon while he was a Fellow under Dr Inman. I am now a Ank Spondylitis patient with Dr Haroon. He really listens to what you say & your concerns. He is both professional & knowledgeable and has a wonderful friendly demeanor and also empathetic to those of us that suffer with chronic pain. I wouldn't hesitate to refer him to those of us that suffer with this disease. I went from Dr to Dr for 5years knowing something was wrong with me but nobody knew, that is, until I met Dr Haroon. I am now on a treatment plan and hope to be feeling better very soon. The staff he works with at Toronto Western Hospital in the Infusion clinic have also been wonderful. They really seem to care and work as a team with Dr Haroon. This is so much easier for the patient.
